Millions die in Natural disasters - God is doing nothing. Do I adopt Anthropomorphism to him?
by KateWild ini do not think god is a'morphic.
god is not human, so hence he does not possess human characteristics, to know god better and to understand him better i study science.
there has been a new discovery of strange signals picked up from black holes and distant supernovae suggest there's more to space-time than einstein believed.

I wonder if we over estimate suffering sometimes. I’ve said this before but it’s hard to put into words. In all of history only one individual has ever suffered. Oneself! Objectively many suffer and in different ways which is true. However isn’t it also true than no one experiences anyone else’s suffering because we all only ever experience reality subjectively from one point of view?
I always find it strange that when a disaster occurs and it is on the news that the big ones get more press time than the small ones. Of course I understand the constraints of time, print space and the motivation to make money from the news media means this is expected. However how can one life ending really be considered less bad than many when one thinks about it? Or how can many lives lost be seen as worse than one? It is a subtle point but is it valid? I recon so.

Freedom From Atheism Foundation
by Seraphim23 inin the interests of being fair, i feel i have to point out this facebook page.
after one minute of reading, i located at least one lie regarding the tyt or young turks presenter cenk.
they said he was an atheist so i pointed out that this is not correct as he self identifies as an agnostic.

If I thought my response was going to feed your good will rather than your intellectual ego I might be more candid with you Adamah. Anything I say is probably a waist of words on my part.

Adamah the bible is not the thing I worship although with some it is. I can disagree with the bible with no issue and I do sometimes. I can also have a different interpretation of it than you, as with the gay issue and the bible. However this is not the thread for that debate. The idea of perfect morality is a myth from some Christians I agree but the law is a curse when love is removed from being able to influence it. There are atheists who lack love in favour of law also. It might not be the bible law but secular law in such instances; however that too is anther debate. In reality we both agree on the gay issue but your ideology compels you to not pursue what we have in common but what you perceive we don’t.

Adamah I have of course read the bible which is one of the reasons why the FFAF is beyond me. Fair minded Christians like me might be beyond you also.

They said he was an atheist so I pointed out that this is not correct as he self identifies as an agnostic. I think the atheist position is wrong but I cannot abide propaganda from fellow Christians. When one walks the middle line there is always a risk of alienating both sides but information that is true is power on the other hand.

Why anyone would start a “Freedom From Atheism Foundation” is beyond me? I don’t notice my freedom to believe being curtailed by atheists. In the crucible of factual debate there is room for both God and atheism when it comes to forming one’s own opinion as to how to interpret facts. However propaganda and lies don’t get my vote no matter who it is from.

Is there anything you could do forever that wouln't get boring?
by mynameislame innot sure when i came to this conclusion but i can't imagine living forever.
after a while i think i would be completly bored with everything.. not saying i wouln't like to live for a few hundred years or maybe even a few thousand if i could travel through space and discover other universes star trek style.
but the thought of living forever sounds like it would eventually become a complete drag.. maybe i'm wrong, maybe after a thousand years or so you would foregt all the stuff that happend at the beginning and just start over in an infinite loop..

Is knowledge infinite or finite?

I agree mynameislame. We live in a finite universe and as such means that infinite life would impossible and also a nightmare because of boredom. Do you remember the first start trek next generation film with that nexus? One of the ideas in the film was when captain Kirk was riding a horse and about to do a jump. He realised that without real danger, which was not possible in the nexus because it was a realm of forever, that the jump had no meaning and thus no enjoyment and so it didn’t matter! This is the problem with living forever. However a loop idea you allude to is an interesting one. To solve such a problem losing all or most access to previous life memories would be required in order to make forever bearable. There are other ideas around on how to solve this issue which are also interesting. I.e time not being real would make a difference to what forever would mean, as an example.
