OK Termite we've forgotten it already. Still in gratitude to Brian Gayle Apr 26th 1992. Went to the pub first, then the match and still got back in time for the meeting if I remember righty. What dedication.

Hey LT I really feel for you. But surely you must be glad that you are at least getting some of the family out?
Re your wife I can understand what's she's up to. I'm in the same boat as you - but there's been a lot more drama in your life. Mine is exactly the same - any negative news re the Truth is automatically surpressed - no matter what it is. I think its a kind of defence mechanism. How long have you been out? What was her reaction and has it changed? Any advice glady appreciated.

Special Needs Talks - Did You Ever Confront?
by Stephanus in.
has anyone here ever had the balls to confront someone over a special needs talk that was obviously aimed at you?
-
Hancock
The Italian - that's a classic.
Steph,
No I didn't have the balls to - but as my offience wasn't one of the normal ones - nobody could understand what the talk was about let alone who it was aimed at. One brother did come up to me after trying to speculate about a certain brother - little knowing it was about me.
Seriously though who is that talk meant to be aimed at? Is it the miscreant or is to warn/counsel the rest of the congreagtion? I never understood that. You could have some fun though looking round, trying to spot who appeared guilty.

Hi Hancock
Which part of this area are you from? I keep in touch with a lot of ex-dubs. Hi Martin,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I used to live in the Swansea/Llanelli but moved away a while
back.My family are all still in. Send me a private mail if you want to get in touch - I don't
want to reveal my identity for obvious reasons. I don't think we've ever met but I
remember your appearances on the big stage!
Thanks,
Hancock.

After hearing a talk at a [Jehovah's Witnesses] circuit assembly, a brother and his fleshly sister realized that they needed to make adjustments in the way they treated their mother, who lived elsewhere and who had been disfellowshipped for six years. Immediately after the assembly, the man called his mother, and after assuring her of their love, he explained that they could no longer talk to her unless there were important family matters requiring contact. Shortly thereafter, his mother began attending meetings and was eventually reinstated. Also, her unbelieving husband began studying and in time was baptized [as a Jehovah's Witness]." (Our Kingdom Ministry August 2002 Issue [Monthly Internal Publication of the Jehovah's Witnesses])
Thanks for posting this. When I first read it I thought it the most nauseating thing I've read from the Society in a long while. Any Witness reading that and not being able to see how sickening it is, is a clear case of indoctrination overwhelming any power of reason. To a neutral non-Witness its a chilling piece of emotional blackmail - to many Witnesses its sound counsel from the Slave. How many Witnesses do you think can see through it? Have you had any response to it? The few I've spoken to can't see anything new/wrong with it?

Which Watchtower teachings lack logic?
by sleepy inwhich watchtower teachings lack logic?.
i know you're all tempted to say all of them, but some beliefs if the facts were true, would be logical.. which ones that are supposed to be a logical consequence of a true fact are in fact not logical whether the fact is true or not?.
for an example of logical belief based on untrue or unprovable fact , if god created adam and all humans came from him,(supposed fact) he could pass on defects in his genes to all humans and we could all be "imperfect".this we could call logical.. a watchtower belief that lacks logic is for example jw's who go through armageddon or die and are ressurected to earth are not perfect but still have another test to go through, yet those who die and that go to heaven are perfect straight away and require no further testing.. so which teachings are based on beliefs that are not true and which ones are just not logical?

You are right of course about the fallacies in the Watchtower/Bible teachings. But I find the crushing simplistic logic of most of the Watchtower teachings hard to bear. Such as:
Attend Meetings leads to Growing Spirtually Strong leads to Obeying God's Commands leads to Happiness
Not Attending Meetings leads to Growing Spiritually Weak leads to Lapse Into Sin leads to Unhappiness

Hi Martin,
I'm from your part of the world originally and I'm sure I know who you are referring to. If you are right I am absolutely amazed. He's a big cheese in the area - my father knows him well. I've done a search on the S Wales Evening post but nothing showed. Let me know if you find a link.
