It was definitely 1989. Not sure whether it was Leeds or Sheffield as I wasn't there. My wife was and she laughs about it this day.

this memory just came to me and i wondered of anyone else remembered it.
it was at the district assembly where the questions young people ask book was launched.
all the young ones had to move and sit together in one stand of the football stadium.

Termite,
Dedicated to both at the time - now its only Leeds. Know what you mean about it not being approved. My PO (& father in law) said " do you think it (Elland Road) is the sort of place an appointed man should be attending? Is the atmosphere conducive to your spirtuality?"
He, by the way, was no hypocrite. He turned down a corporate freebie to see his team at Elland Road so because it would have meant missing part of the Sat morning ministry!
Good luck in the 2nd leg.

OK Termite we've forgotten it already. Still in gratitude to Brian Gayle Apr 26th 1992. Went to the pub first, then the match and still got back in time for the meeting if I remember righty. What dedication.

Hey LT I really feel for you. But surely you must be glad that you are at least getting some of the family out?
Re your wife I can understand what's she's up to. I'm in the same boat as you - but there's been a lot more drama in your life. Mine is exactly the same - any negative news re the Truth is automatically surpressed - no matter what it is. I think its a kind of defence mechanism. How long have you been out? What was her reaction and has it changed? Any advice glady appreciated.

.
has anyone here ever had the balls to confront someone over a special needs talk that was obviously aimed at you?
The Italian - that's a classic.
Steph,
No I didn't have the balls to - but as my offience wasn't one of the normal ones - nobody could understand what the talk was about let alone who it was aimed at. One brother did come up to me after trying to speculate about a certain brother - little knowing it was about me.
Seriously though who is that talk meant to be aimed at? Is it the miscreant or is to warn/counsel the rest of the congreagtion? I never understood that. You could have some fun though looking round, trying to spot who appeared guilty.
Hancock.
i was talking to an ex-elder whos father an elder for 30 years who also served as the congregations p/o and as the old congregations servant prior to the 1972 arrangement.. .
he stated that he does not believe in god any longer as his father whilst serving as the cong p/o had been molesting his 2 sisters and his 2 daughters.
this happened over a 25 year period.
Hi Hancock
Which part of this area are you from? I keep in touch with a lot of ex-dubs. Hi Martin,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I used to live in the Swansea/Llanelli but moved away a while
back.My family are all still in. Send me a private mail if you want to get in touch - I don't
want to reveal my identity for obvious reasons. I don't think we've ever met but I
remember your appearances on the big stage!
Thanks,
Hancock.

After hearing a talk at a [Jehovah's Witnesses] circuit assembly, a brother and his fleshly sister realized that they needed to make adjustments in the way they treated their mother, who lived elsewhere and who had been disfellowshipped for six years. Immediately after the assembly, the man called his mother, and after assuring her of their love, he explained that they could no longer talk to her unless there were important family matters requiring contact. Shortly thereafter, his mother began attending meetings and was eventually reinstated. Also, her unbelieving husband began studying and in time was baptized [as a Jehovah's Witness]." Thanks for posting this. When I first read it I thought it the most nauseating thing I've read from the Society in a long while. Any Witness reading that and not being able to see how sickening it is, is a clear case of indoctrination overwhelming any power of reason. To a neutral non-Witness its a chilling piece of emotional blackmail - to many Witnesses its sound counsel from the Slave. How many Witnesses do you think can see through it? Have you had any response to it? The few I've spoken to can't see anything new/wrong with it?
