I hope this sounds coherent. I don't feel like spending hours trying to formulate this right.
Creationists swear by the bible. In other words, if god exists, evolution does not. But if evolution exists, species adapting to their environment, and I believe this is the case, and as you say are verified somewhat by facts, it does not automatically exclude a creator. The beginning, as you say is unverifiable in both cases of creation and evolution. If I say I believe in creation, you will automatically lump me up with creationist who believe everything was created static, without the possibility of adaptive changes. Personally, I've never even read this in the bible.
It is stupid for creationists to deny that species can adapt. We as humans adapt everyday to changes in our world, so yes evolution does exist and I think that if god exists and created us, he did this with this possibility of change, sometimes necessary to survival.
My only argument for creation is simply the intelligence which seems to exist behind everything. I do not use the bible for my arguments, since it has been discussed plenty here and it appears the bible has holes in it and the possibility exists that maybe god is not behind the writings of the bible. So I really can't use the book to prove anything.
No one has a leg to stand on. Proofs are rare. It's just hard for me to believe it all came out of chance. So then it becomes a personal choice to believe that our universe came about as a result of chemical and biological catalysts or someone had a hand in it.
Your guess is as good as mine I suppose.

Could it also be that the Society is thinking twice about their harsh "shunning policy", and what we are now witnessing is an introductory strategy to ease the R & F into an eventual policy of greater tolerance?
I'd love to see that one. I think I'd go back to the meetings for the sole purpose of shunning a few of them myself. Although I've been shunning them for decades now, it would be interesting to see them struggle with the idea they pushed it a little too far, and now I'm pissed to a point of no return...LOL
Careful how you judge, with the same measures with which you judge you will be judged.

The witnesses should not be insulted even if you told them in their face that you were pulling their leg and pulling a prank. Like they say, you never know who will embrace the truth, and how, so it could happen to you in that fashion. I am scaring you a bit....LOL.
Anyway, it got me thinking, funny how they don't keep track of incoming phone calls of interested ones to the hall. I guess it wouldn't look good in their monthly report to have 0 interested calls and 1 prank call....LOL

Tom Cruise (Scientologist) vs. Brooke Shields (Postpartum Depression)

I find that people who have never experienced some mental instability / depression are of the impression that these type of illnesses are not real, just a bluff and the person has to just snap out of it, and voila, the problem is solved. Kind of like telling a person with cancer that their cancer is not real and all they have to do is to tell their brain they don't have cancer and they won't.
I did find Tom Cruise a little arrogant on the issue. Typical cult follower.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=aMjFwLzAVek8&refer=top_world_news Gasoline Rises in New York on BP Plant Fire Report (Update1)July 29 (Bloomberg) -- Gasoline futures rose as much as 4.5 percent after a report said firefighters are responding to what may have been an explosion and fire at BP Plc's Texas City refinery, the company's largest.
Gasoline for August delivery rose as much as 7.8 cents, or 4.5 percent, to $1.80 a gallon in after-hours electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange at 8:25 a.m. Singapore time.
Fire engines are responding to an incident at the plant and were believed to be putting out a fire, the Houston Chronicle's online edition said, citing BP spokesman Hugh Depland.
Oil prices rose to a record $62.10 on July 7 on concern that the U.S. has inadequate oil processing capacity to meet demand for gasoline during the summer and heating oil in the fourth quarter. Consumption of motoring fuel peaks between Memorial Day in May and Labor Day in September.
``If this is a significant piece of equipment that's affected, it could give the market the push it needs to hold and trade over $60'' a barrel, said Alan Herbst, a principal at New York-based consulting firm Utilis Energy LLC, in a telephone interview. ``I'm not surprised that crude and product prices are up. Traders see this as potentially bullish.''
A March 23 explosion at the Texas City refinery, the third- biggest in the U.S., killed 15 people and injured 170. The explosion cut output from the site, which can process 460,000 barrels of oil a day.
Local television coverage of the incident at 6:30 p.m. local time showed flames at the plant and fire crews pouring water on the blaze, the Chronicle said.
