  I would suggest trying to make some friends while you become more comfortable in your own skin. You don't know who you are or even what you like or want.

  Get to know others as you get to know yourself. How others treat people, what some people like, how others communicate can be an interesting discussion but nothing to pattern yourself from.

  As you get to know you and start like that version of you, others will be drawn to you. Knowing the way to act will become natural because it is you. A woman will either like that or not. If not, she will move on. If she likes who you actually are and sees you liking who you are, it will flow and grow.

  Relax man. It will happen.

  Hey you aren't the guy from BC that used to bring all the cropped and mirror imaged Watchtower publication pictures to Georgetown Bethel in the 80's and 90's are you? Hell even as a now self declared and proud apostate I thought that guy was a quack and his thinking closely alligned to yours. Sometimes so much can be solved with the right medication and dosage!

  Just brought back a Bethel memory with this thread. Back then people like that just convinced me further that the 'world' was being controlled by Satan and so happy I had the ... " " can't bring myself to say it ... "tooth"... okay close enough

  it seems greg stafford has disassociated himself from the watchtower society?.

  do you think his new attempt to reform the society - he claims that 'christian witnesses of jah' are jehovah's witnesses - stands a chance to spur on changes or is he just 'forging' another split group that will fade out quickly?.

  He like many are still trying to figure out what they believe. It is a shame he is trying to attract so many to follow after him.

  Just like Russell, Rutherford, Ghandi, and so many others Greg is still searching and the pawns follow him like sheep. he is a man with doubts, uncertainties and best guesses. I don't wish him any ill will but people need to realize he is searching just like they are with no solid answers.

  People just need to do what they feel they should. Beyond that is simply human conjecture.

  BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?

  i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.

  while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).

  a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

  I know many of the Brooklyn support services crew and legal dept people from 1989-95 and pretty much any Canadian Bethelite from 84-95. I'd love to hear of any that have seent he light, left, or pretty much any news. I loved those people as my family. It is too bad they ar so short sighted that their love can only be for those who think the same as they do.

  Despite my bravado, I miss so many, Rob & Paula Hinch (now missionaries in Malawi), Dave and Jennifer Nelson (still serving in Toronto). They were my best friends and still could be if they would just open thier minds and remove their prejudice. They don't hve to change their beliefs but just be open to be friends with someone who doesn't believe as they do. sad

  I am not here to change them but would love to be their friends again.

  i think 10 years is about long enough to be hanging out on jw related boards.

  its been an interesting and educational ride folks.

  i was already out mentally and had planned my fade when i found h20 late in 96. who woulda thunk that i would end up running the friggin site?!?!

I was already out mentally and had planned my fade when I found H20 late in 96. Who woulda thunk that I would end up running the friggin site?!?! Many a sleepless night and pretty much thankless job modding a discussion board made up of cultists and those who depart from it. I admire Simon and Ang for the intestinal fortitude they demonstrated keeping it alive this long!

  I've encountered amazing people too numerous to list, those who were hurting, the angry, the bitter, those wanting to help. I also saw vile excuses for humanity appear who inflicted humiliation and upset for their own pleasure. But just like most cross-sections of humanity the good far outweighed the bad. The trick is not to waste 80% of your energy on the 20%. Lesson learned.

  I'll still likely get involved in the legal battles if I see the Bethel lawyers lying to the courts again (like I did in the Hughes case for example) but otherwise I am done. Life is too exciting to continue thinking and caring about the past. I've done my penance for the things I did as an elder and Bethelite. (one of the main reasons I accepted the job as ForumDirector at H20 - guilt)

  But my life is good. I move into my first home (3 bedroom bungalow with a nice yard, deck and woodshop) in two weeks. My career is flourishing. I have plenty of friends and acquaintences. SCREW YOU WATCHTOWER! I am happier and more content and at peace with myself now then I ever was a JW. To me that is the best revenge.

  I am embarrassed to say I used this same illustration in a few Public Talks I used to give.

  The scary part is that it is almost word for word. I know a few other Bethelites used it as well.

  I am thinking it is quite funny that 13 years later, the GB is using an illustration created by a now apostate.

  Me personnally? I am completely embarrassed and ashamed that I actually used to eblieve this stuff.
