  scene a: imagine you're at the controls of a trolley and the brakes have failed.

  you're approaching a fork in the track at top speed.

  Scene A - I don't like the options but if those were the only possibilities, I would be directly responsible for killing. I would likely veer off and take out the one man. Better to only kill one than 5. Simple logic.

  Scene B - If I were to push the one man into the path I would be directly responsible for killing a man. If I did nothing I would not be directly responsible for anyone's death but would be around to assist those other people hit. Perhaps one might sacrifice him/her self if the situation warranted but that wasn't one of your options.

  OK, I actually Saw the Passion

  just came home from seeing...the passion...after the movie there was a question and answer session with two rabbis that viewed it with us...and three priests from my parish...more on that at another time...though both rabbis said in their opinion the movie is not antisemetic, but that it could (would) stir up antisemetic feelings in those who already possessed them.. the movie was an overall good one.

  it was interesting trying to figure out some of the symbolism...what did the baby represent???

  i think i know, but i'd like to hear mel's take on it.. pretty gory stuff, not quite what i thought it would be, but still quite yucky.

  Mel might make a few dollars on this...the theatre I went to...four different cinemas running all at once...and all full...and two other theatres in town that I know of were running the show.

  Why should the priests, ministers, deacons etc. be the only ones to make money off Jesus? At least Mel isn't trying to dictate how others should live their lives. He is just presenting an art form.

  oh I forgot to mention that grabbing someone else's nuts is even worse!

  Well unless the grabber is female and the grabbee is me, but even then, grabbing sounds painful.... nevermind ... now .. gentle caressing on the other hand.... but that would just be too weird to do to coconuts.

  How would you find someone?

  i had a friend that left the organization and moved to the dfw area.

  back then i was still "in" so unfortunately i lost touch with her.

  now, i want to be able to find her.

  Helping put one xjw in contact with someone, I once called the JW family claiming to be an elder in the area. I told them it was time for the annual visitation on all disfellowshipped people and I wanted to find the best way to get in touch with the person (in this case the df'd son of the JW family). If further explanation is needed, you are helping the City Overseer track down the 'lost sheep' in the DFW area.

  Many private investigators will also use the ruse of organizing a High School reunion and claim they want the current mailing address for...

  It is a little less than honest but hey you are just throwing Theocratic Warfare right back at them.

  If you know someone in the DFW area, they could try that approach.

  Original Canadian WT Headquarters

  i remember reading a long time ago that the original canadian wt headquarters was in winnipeg on donald street.

  actually, i wouldn't be surprised if the building is still there.

  anyone have more info on this?

  I vaguely remember reading the same thing about Winnpeg. I do know Winnipeg was the site of one of the first big conventions circa 1917, so it would make sense that the Branch was there.

  The first Branch Office in Toronto was a small office on Irwin Avenue. When they decided to have people actually living at the facility they moved to 40 Irwin Avenue. I know that at least by the mid 20's they were using Irwin Ave as the headquarters.

  They moved to the 150 Bridgeland Avenue (near Yorkdale Mall) location in the 50's and to Georgetown/Halton Hills (current location) in 1981.

  Hopefully they'll move to Baffin Island next.

  Seriously tho, from what I have seen it takes a lot more than this to get deleted. I'll not hijack this thread with those issues but am more than happy to discuss my POV with anyone via pm.
