Axelspeed: My anger and resentment are now almost turning into embarrassment and pity for current JWs and embarrassment that I was ever raised in this cult. I agree with you, I just cannot believe how far the JW's have gone toward the world of commercialism and idolatry.
I agree with you too Simon, some of the older ones must be so embarrassed at the drop in standards of this organization.

how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.
how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.
I left in 1994 because I was sick of being judged by the brothers and sisters as spiritually weak I had been ill for awhile and had missed lots of meetings. I had also married a man who was only 30 (this is in 1991) who claimed to be anointed so they poo pooed that as well. I still believed it was 'The Truth' for a few years. I was given COC by my ex who had left just a little after me. Because I still believed i didnt read the book.
Around 1999- 2000 I found the internet and did a search " jehovahs witness's". Found Randy Watters page and just a little later found this site. Then I started to wake up. I heard about the book COC on here and realised hey !! I have that book!1. Read it and the rest is history. I have only met one real life exjw who just happened to have been my exhusbands bestfriend and was bestman at our JW wedding. I actually met him again through this forum. We have since lost touch but I remember how reassuring it was that someone else knew that the JW's did not "The Truth"
Since then I haven't met any real life ex Jw's.

just found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.
it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.
what made me say "woah" was hearing that the holy bride to be is really young!

its been a little over 2 years since i left the watchtower.
in that time the magazines have been cut, the birth of jwtv, jw-org.
carts for preaching, removed district overseers, cut assemblies, demand all the money from the congregations, stop construction and layoff bethelites, change the format of the tmschool .
I think the door to door work will go. In this day and age its just not politcally correct to go around knocking on peoples doors. There are insurance issues occupational health and saftety along with the orgs own pedaphile problem. The carts will stay for a while.
I agree that they will use there JW tv at the meetings to make up for the lack of elders and Ms's.
I also agree they will become more and more like Scientology.

That was what i was thinking. They say they all baptised members are ordained mininsters so that would mean every publisher would have to get a License and be accredited. This would cost the publisher money and they would have to be subjected to 'worldly' people and attitudes during the courses.
I found this interesting as well

So technically even though they don't pay their members they can still be seen as employing them and with that is insurance and occupational health and saftey standards etc costs and procedures.
It has to make them politically correct which will cause a lot cog dis moments for a lot of them.
Jaidubdub the government will make a way to apply this law to them. If this comes into place it will also show them up as a religious institution that doesnt contribute to society in charitable ways. the Real Estate company and printing company they really are will become more obvious.
I wonder if the name change of the minstry school has anything to do with this. because if they call it a school and schools educate then it does come under this proposal.

Government funding in Australia for religious organizations and churches cover sthings like additional and extra funding for private schools and welfare programs such as housing the homless hostels etc , religious nursing homes for the elderly.
The Australian government give financial assistance to religious organizations of upward of $31 Billion Australian dollers per year.
