@ fadetoblack - They did that to me, I asked them about 1975 and was told by the youngish man manning the trolley to look it up on JW.org. Bad choice really as nothing screams apostate louder than 1975 does it? Anyways, since that day I've been carrying a detailed list of 5 omissions/lies I found on JW.org (So you're not creationists? How comes the website implies that the work is only funded by voluntary donations? So you're not a sect? So you've not made any changes to the Bible? So people are free to leave your religion?) which I'm going to confront them with. Unfortunately the one time I got back to that part of town since then the trolley was being manned by a little old lady of 70+ and thinking of my own late grandmother I just didn't have the heart to confront her. Oh well, maybe next time...

National newspaper interview with JW's using the JW.org trolley
by Gorbatchov ina dutch national newspaper (trouw) published an interview with some jw's using the jw.org trolley near the trainstation of utrecht.. the local coordinator of the trolley work acknowledged that many witness are not enthusiastic about preaching.
it's a wide spread rumor in our organization.. but the witness elders will remind them personally that preaching is nessasery.
then there is an question asked about the witness selection procedure for the trolley work.. the good looking pioneer sister answered she can imagine the need for selection because nobody would take a book from an old age leaning forward woman without teeth.. g..

Sisters conducting meetings where there is a lack of brothers
by booker-t ini remember years ago when i was a little boy aroung 9 years old, our bookstudy conductor was in the hospital and at the last minute one of the elders asked my aunt to be the book study conductor.
this was the first time i have seen this happen.
my aunt did a very good job and the bookstudy acted as it was not something from outer space.

@ OneEyedJoe - Can't express how amused I am by your comment. My god, what a f###ed up organisation we were/are all part of. Your comment is such a classic example of all that is wrong with the JW mindset.

My Satantic Smurf Scratch n' Sniff Stickers Story (True!)
by Phaedra inback in the early 80s when i was around 9 or 10, my slightly-older best jw friend relished telling me all the latest scare stories she heard about the satanic smurfs popping off of wallpaper, cutting babies with sharp objects, and running through kingdom hall corridors swearing.
wide-eyed with no critical thinking skills at.
i listened and believed every single word.

Re Fantasia. The Beethoven sequence featured pagan gods, mythical creatures and kinda sorta nudity. The Stravinsky section is about evolution and features heavy rhythmic music. For the section based on Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey uses witchcraft which goes out of control. As for the closing (and by far the best) piece, Mussorgsky's Night on Bare Mountain, ghosts, gravestones, witches on broomsticks, skeletons and lightning flashes all presided over by Satan himself. Truly, in the eyes of the sisters who had a get together to watch this movie when it was rereleased on VHS in the mid-90's this diabolical Disney equivalent of Cannibal Holocaust was thoughly demonic and not fit for fine upstanding followers of Jehovah and spent many weeks informing anyone who would listen of this fact. Which made the movie all the more disappointing when I finally saw it a few years ago.

@problemaddict - Blood in Nesquick, I remember that one. In a similar vain I also remember it going round the young folks in our congregation that (WARNING: this is gross) cottage cheese contained bull semen. Scooby Door demonic? Wow, that's tragic.

I remember the big burly angels protecting a sister from a serial killer myth (obviously they were to busy to protect the sisters in Malawi) I also seem to remember stories of suddenly invisible printing presses in Nazi Germany/Communist Russia/Cuba/China/Eastern Europe. The only popular culture thing I can remember definitely being told was demonic was the Disney movie Fantasia which I was also informed featured pro-evolution propaganda.

All done by email? How exactly was the original poster to know that? Also, what's with the "hire a lawyer, I think you'll need one" business? How exactly would the BOE know who sent the letter(s)?

The one that starts "As a doctor I find religious zealots sickening..." is a gem, as is the "Keep quite when passing room 8"

And all the thousands of revolting and deadly parasites and bacteria in existence just prove what a sick sense of humour God has. Provided he exists (which he does not)

@NeonMadman - I would take your opinion more seriously if you weren't referring to an editorial in the Daily Telegraph, a famously and historically right leaning British newspaper. But I guess your just another Christian expressing the imaginary persecution complex that seems to he endemic in your religion.
