by now all of us are aware of the moves in russia to ban the organization and the frantic letter writing campaign started by the governing body.. however, what i thought was interesting and perhaps not already mentioned, is the fact that governing body themselves may have actually created this very situation.
due of their personal greed to seize the brotherhood's saved congregational accounts and the ownership of the publisher funded kingdom halls through the centralizing of those assets into the watchtower corporation (which i'm sure has taken place in russia too), the ability for putin to take the lot has only been made it easier.
however if the governing body had left the ownership of the halls at the local level, i expect that the best the russian government could do would be to have them closed and then start the much longer court process of taking them one by one.. and if anyone has any delusions in thinking that a ton of letters will in some way convince putin to change his mind; think again.

He didn't care in 2008 when he ordered the invasion of Georgia. Nor did he worry about it in 2014 when he took the Crimea . And he's not bothered about his puppet regime using chlorine fill barrel bombs killing women and children in Syria.

"what man among you with 100 sheep, on losing one of them, will not leave the 99 behind in the wilderness and go after the lost one until he finds it?
" - luke 15:4. disclaimer: by posting the following observations i am not complaining.
i am happy to be left alone.
hi doubtfull,
Unfortunately I was in a similar situation as yourself and I totally get where you are coming from. In my case, I was in the same congregation for over 40 years and a MS and Elder much of that time. But my wife became chronically ill with clinical depression (suicidal actually) and it became all to much. So I stepped down and we moved congregation to become closer to my family for some support. Since that time (and many, many years have past) no-one from the body or the congregation has called to see how we were going. My wife could have killed herself or anything. You know after all the time and effort I had done for the congregation and with the body of Elders (and I was doing more than most) ... not one call. That hurt and still does. There is no Brotherhood ... its just a lie ... and I recon that i'm probably get more genuine love from the checkout girl at our local supermarket that from all those ones I've known for most of my life.

day 5 in court - and apparently the plaintiff stephanie fessler has decided to settle..... http://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/02/jehovahs_witness_sexual_abuse.html.
jehovah's witness sexual-abuse-coverup lawsuit settled.

When you think about it, its really immaterial if Fessler decided to claim the compensation or expend herself just to make a point. Ether way, the Society lost. As another child abuse case became public and they took a costly hit to their resources. Until the day that the Governing Body finally understands their culpability, this is how its will play out ... more bad press and more money lost.

stephanie fessler v watch tower.
stephanie fessler was brought up as a jehovah’s witness by her parents, jodee and kevin.
I wonder if it has been settled out of court ... with a gag order.
i'm a 4th generation jw.
i started to realize it wasn't the truth over 2 years ago in late october/early november 2014. i don't know how exactly it happened.
i remember i had just heard about confirmation bias, and it hit me: i realized that i would be guilty of confirmation bias if i didn't look at the other side.
Hi WeatherLover,
it seems that you've got quite a bit going on in your life at the moment. And while everyone's story is unique, most of us here will encourage to you to take things slowly and not to act rashly. Dealing with family is hard, I'm still "in" because of them too. However, you've arrived at a place where you ask whatever questions you like, no matter it's size, complexity or subject ... and we'll do our best to help answer them if we can. Best wishes.

round two of the australian royal commission into institutional child abuse has all the makings of a very damaging event for the organization, if what is going to happen to the catholic church is any indication.. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-02-03/royal-commission-most-catholic-archbishops-to-give-evidence/8240208.

If anyone expects some sort of 'mea culpa' from the Organization during the next sitting of ARC, they will be sadly disappointed. The GB understands that the child abuse problem (and their historic way of dealing with it) is a global problem. And as such, they are clearly handling it in a global manner. Actually, they have no choice because if they making the mistake of admitting culpability in one country, it would have an immediate run-on to legal proceedings in other countries.
So as bad as it is, I fully expect that whoever the GB sends to represent the Society, the instructions from Warwick will be for them to just continue delaying and promising reforms that we know will never eventuate. However the ARC does not appear that they are going to take the softly-softly approach and so I fully expect that that poor saps sent will be ripped to pieces.

Unfortunately I would think that it's highly unlikely we'll see another Governing Body member in the stand here. Geoffrey Jackson was definite in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught out. They'll just let the local branch committee take the heat, for sure.

What's also interesting is the fact that we are getting another 'zone visit' by a GB helper at around the same time. Whether it is for the Royal Commission or not, who knows. But i wouldn't be surprised if the Australian Bethel is put on the market after this 'visit', when we remember that it was after the last one, that all printing done there was stopped. We'll just have to wait and see.
