Was Tony newly assigned to the Poughkeepsie congregation, or did he have some prior connection to it?

Brother Morris's problems aren't going to end by his removal from the Governing Body, as it is highly unlikely that he and his wife will be taking up jobs in Bethel's cleaning department. This means that they'll have to be 'redesigned to the field', which is highly ironic seeing that's what Tony did to so many other Bethelites, when they got rid of people who they considered to be a liability.
However where will he go, knowing the literally everyone around the world understands that there is now a cloud hanging over your head? Yep ... its going to be hard to quietly slip away . But that's the price that you pay, when you allow yourself to become an international celebrity. Its great you are at the top, basking in the sun ... but its going to be really uncomfortable when you are not. Tony should have read the story of Icarus.

Gun Ownership - A question for American Witnesses (or Ex-Witnesses)
by no-zombie ini would like to ask a question regarding gun ownership in the active american witnesses community.
while rifle ownership has been put in the same category as spear guns and fishing rods, how has the issue of pistol ownership been handled in us congregations?
.

Gun ownership here in Australia, is like a 'don't ask: don't tell' issue. While there might be some differences between city and country congregations (particularly those with farmers), gun ownership generally here could hold someone back from advancing theocratically (if you talk about it openly), as he might me viewed as a immature christian, one not sensitive to the conscience of others. But mention guns and self-defense together in the same sentence, and that's a whole additional level of backroom conversations.
And it is this issue of self-defense in general, that interests me at the moment and its what motivated my question. I plan to make a new topic of this subject after I finish some research on it, which is centered around the Bible and its relevant historical contexts.

spiritually sick
by enoughisenough ini thought of this today.
when i first told a certain person i didn't believe the gb were the faithful slave, that person told me i was spiritually sick....even bought me flowers.
i threw the vase away because i couldn't look at it without thinking how i was judged spiritually sick.

Disavowing our core article of faith was a dangerous move. Most other Witnesses would have brought a couple of Elders ... not a couple of flowers.

Can this rumor be TRUE?
by Debra Ann Romano inrumor has it there is “new light” (gag!
) regarding blood and organ transplants since a recent royal member on the wts board found reason to ok one for himself!
i mean this shit is so far removed from my life now, but hearing something so outrageous, that once cost people close to me their lives, is too unsettling to not want to know..

I'm finding a little hard to think that a change in the Blood doctrine has occurred. Most elders will say that taking one is 'your decision' (because of the potential litigation issues involved) but it will mean you're automatic disassociation.
That's unless someone have a little more detail to add to this rumor.

How Will They End 1914 Teaching?
by EmptyInside ini'm sure this has been discussed, but 1914 has to go away.
instead of, the overlapping generation teaching, they should have just ditched 1914. .
they should have done that a long time ago with 1975. it's the last of the teachings in the charles taze russell era.. i'm thinking they just will stop talking about it, and it will be out of the mind of the rank and file loyal witnesses .

An other thing I think about from time to time, is this. When a child born into the faith today (by that I mean literally born now in 2023) by the time he or she has lived their who life, going to meeting, witnessing and stuff ... by the time they die ... Jesus would have been ruling invisibly in heaven (doing god knows what) for 200 years.
200 years, just think about it for a moment. How relevant will that teaching be to Witnesses then ... it will not be of course.
Thus is obvious that the GB will at some time have to choice, to move away from 1914 and blame it on our Adventist past, or stay the same and let the Organization drift downward to have the same relevance of the Salvation Army, complete with marching band and uniforms.

The problem that some may have forgotten is that 1914 is very closely linked to 1918; the choosing of the Organization by Jesus to be known as the true faith. Thus by openly discussing or changing the date of Jesus's enthronement in heaven, questions would also flow onto (because of other Biblical prophesy ie. the three witnesses) whether or not also 1918 is correct.
What is the big deal you might ask? Well by using 1918 as the Society's official start/blessed date, the writing committee can distance itself the most of Russell's crazy pyramid ideas. But is the 1918 is effectively moved forward, them we move in the Ruderford period, which could make some ask about the things he introduced.
No, its far better for 1914 just to die quietly and the brotherhood move on, to believe in another vague religious concept, that Armageddon is just around the corner.

For JW's, the 'ORG' is more important than Jesus Christ
by BoogerMan inin the november 2022 study watchtower, "jehovah's organization" (or variants) is repeated at least 37 times.. the word 'organization' - like 'governing body,' 'trinity,' hell-fire,' & 'immortal soul,' - doesn't exist in the holy scriptures.. interestingly, jesus christ is mentioned only twice in all of the study articles - as an aside..

I believe that the real reason why Jesus doesn't have a real place in the the 'Truth' today, is because Jesus' main message was for people to develop righteous qualities. If he had banged on about salvation through a individuals preaching efforts, the GB would have been all over him ... as they are with the Apostle Paul.
