Two questions about Jesus. The first one might seem a little silly. But I was Told by a JW that Jesus had short hair. "Really" I said. "How do you know that". And there was no answer to the question. I just saw a dipiction of Jesus on the watch tower site, and he had short hair. Until now, any depiction of Jesus I had seen was of a man with long haig. (White man) but his skin color was probally dark. So why the difference in JW teaching???? Next, whats the latest on the Cross or stake debate? I heard on JW say he was impaled on a stake. I was under the belief that being impaled was to put a stake up the anus and let gravity force the stake through the body.

Non-JW and newbie to board w/ ?'s...
by BlazingButterfly3 inwhere do i begin...well first let me say that i have similar situations with others on this board because i am involved with someone who is a witness.
as i stated in my title, i am not.
i am also a newbie to this board, and i am curious as to know if there is anyone out there who was a non-jw who converted and is glad that they did so?

I came upon this board because I am dating a witness. I am not. But decided to try and learn a little bit about it. I figured we both read the Bible, we both love God, and both believe in Jesus. So maybe they have a different understanding? Maybe it's a good thing. I also started to ask her questions. to which she never knew the answers. (Not that Catholics know why they do what they do either) But this seemed really odd since she has such strong opinions on things. Like absolutley no Holidays. Not even to celebrate the arrival of Jesus Christ. Read thier Bible side by side with other versions. You will see a difference. Take a look at John 1:1. There seems to be an extra God hanging around for some reason. The wording of the New World Translation is very deceptive. I am just starting to see alot of holes in there religion. But I only started looking a few months ago. It all looks so on the money at first glance. But why would they show you all the uglies up front. they would never get converts if they did. Keep this in mind. Don't take offense to what people here might say. (you mentioned to keep it clean) if you really want to know both sides of the coin, you will need to keep an open mind.

Where is that passage found? I tried finding it but can't quite remember which book it is in. I do remember the passage, but the exact wording escapes me. Of course it depends on which version you read though. But it does seem that the word discreet looses its meaning in #1 making the slave a group of people, and #2 declaring this to the whole world.

Another question none can seem to answer for me!
by Bosho ini'm just full of questions and here's another that no one in the hall has ever answered with conviction.. they say that the church steeple is shaped like a phalic symbol (please excuse spelling mistake, mislaid my dictionary!)..
so why then was the temple shaped in a remarkably similar fashion (the picture in the back of the big bible always worried me).
maybe, just maybe, the church is shaped after the original temple and not .... what they say it is.

I think remember hearing that it was to reach toward the sky when I was a little shaver going to sunday school. Might have just been one of those quick answers adults give to a kid when they don't actually know the answer though.
But when I think about it, Most church bells are in that steple I am pretty sure. So maybe it makes the sound carry further since a steeple is normally taller than most of the surrounding buildings. ???? Or maybe it just looks like a d* ????? -

I have been dating a JW for about 4 months now. I was curious about her beliefs in the beginning. I had no idea what JW's believed. So I started looking into it. like how I found this discussion board. Every question I have asked her she has yet to know the reason why she believes what she does. Yesterday she was talking to her friend on the phone, and they went on and on about how terrible it was that someone they know went to a birthday party. So I asked her why. Again she didn't know. So I told her that was her home work. to find out and teach me why. So, any body know the reason. or where I can find it? I just got the NWT and a study bible that has 4 versions to compare it to.

by Yerusalyim inwhy is it that jw's are so big on this no blood thing, yet still eat blood in their meat?
the dubs i know claim to "cook out" the blood, but this in no way meets biblical standards.
in fact the way meat is slaughtered doesn't come close to meeting kosher requirements in the bible.

At no point did you even begin to answer the question. which would lead one to believe you do not know an answer. Name calling makes a man look ignorant. Wouldn't it be a better Idea to try and find the answer to the question, rather than slander a possible convert?
The 99.9% of the population that you said will be destroyed upon the return of Jesus. Is that found in the Bible? Where does this number come from? Also, You say to just shut up and do as your told. Good Idea? Remember Hitler? His followers shut up and did as they were told too. If eating blood is a concern, and you do it accidentally. wouldn't you like to know so you can correct the problem?
