That's what I would tell people too. We had to say something, because there were some people who would ask.
Wolfgirl:
Thanks. That's the major reason, and it's related to the revenge and thievery issues.
a new kingdom hall has just been built very close to where we live.
it is taking on the appearance of fort knox now, much like some other khs near us.
the high fences with nasty sharp bits are just going up and there are floodlights on at night.

Some reasons given by the elders for "no windows":
Having no windows is conducive to full concentration on the spiritual food being presented. The audience will not be distracted by such things as a bird in a tree or people passing by.
JWs are not like people of other religions who put their worship on public display. The others are getting their reward in full when men applaud them, but those who worship "in secret" are storing up treasures in heaven.
JWs don't build fancy cathedrals because God deserves the glory and not some building.
When Armageddon begins, JWs will be together in their Kingdom Halls and won't have to observe the anguish and terrible destruction of the wicked (all outsiders).
Real reasons:
Distraught husbands and abuse survivors have been known to shoot through windows at persons on the platform and others. (Often husbands are distraught because their wives are married more to the organization than to them.)
Thieves can see through windows to locate the expensive sound system and other valuable items.
It's embarrassing to the elders to be seen arriving late for meetings.
Others sing "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," but JWs have their Kingdom Halls!

Does anyone know the issue date of this magazine?

-----------someone was going to an assembly to picket, and asked you to write an slogan which would really make a witness think or question what would you write?
Don't blame the Bible because you're constantly ready to keel over from exhaustion. Blame the Watchtower Society.
Be all you can be. Don't let the WT Society control your every waking hour.
You can't be on top of the world if you let the WT Society drag you down.
One choice makes all the difference. Don't get hooked by Watchtower mythology.
Everlasting life does not begin with slaving for the WT Society.
There is no organization so useless as the one that cares only about itself.
Nothing makes a person such a wimp as joining Jehovah's Witnesses.

Jesus said "You must be born again!" The Watchtower says "Don't you believe it!"
Jesus said "I am the way," but the Watchtower claims a better way.
The Watchtower claims Jesus chose "the anointed remnant" in 1919 as his true church, even though they saluted the flag and celebrated birthdays and Christmas. Would Jesus choose them today when they won't salute and don't celebrate?

Jesus spoke the truth and the Watchtower tells lies. Why can't JWs see the difference?
An open Bible and an open mind are often closed by an open Watchtower.
The Governing Body loves you provided you do everything they tell you.
Is your circuit overseer a man of God or a stooge of the Governing Body?

i'm researching a paper on the adventist religions.
i keep reading that russell was influenced by miller but i can't find a direct link.
and i have some other questions i'm trying to figure out: .
In Crisis of Conscience (second edition), pages 141-63, Raymond Franz shows the connection between Russell and the Millerite and adventist movements. But there doesn't appear to be any direct connection with Campbell or Miller. Miller died in the 1840's, and Russell was born in the 1850's.
the following appeared today, dec. 15, 2004, in the independent & free press of georgetown, ontario.
the "security officer" is quite likely a member of the headquarters staff of the watch tower society of canada.. police blotter.
police report two men were seen by a security officer checking vehicle door handles at the watch tower property on hwy.
mouthy,
I doubt the two who ran were JWs, but I believe the "security officer" who approached them is. Interesting, though, that they somehow got on the Society's property despite all the security measures to keep non-JWs away.
