The doctrine of the Trinity is that there are three PERSONS within the Godhead. If we are in God's image in that sense, then there ought to be three PERSONS within each of us, each with a separate mind, body, spirit, will, emotions, etc. That's something that is taught neither in the Bible, in science textbooks nor, for that matter, by commen sense. So, I have to confess that the concept is something beyond me.
Scholars who attempt to prove the Trinity have never used the argument that each of us is THREE DISTINCT PERSONS WITHIN ONE INDIVIDUAL HUMAN such as the Trinity is said to be THREE DISTINCT PERSONS WITHIN ONE INDIVIDUAL GOD.
If each of us is a Trinity because we have body, mind and spirit, then what about each PERSON within the Trinity? Does each have a body, mind and spirit? I think you know where sound reasoning takes us: Three persons composed of three persons makes a total of nine persons within the Trinity, not three.
Again, I have nothing against persons who want to view the Trinity in the above way. It's just that I wouldn't want to be grasping at straws for support of what I personally believe. I'd rather accept what the Bible plainly says rather than invent a theory or illustration that can be shot full of holes because it's obviously so weak.

Hi Grace,
I haven't stated here whether or not I believe in the Trinity. All I'm saying is that I prefer to give the Holy Spirit the name that Jesus gave. As you know, "Trinity" is a word nowhere found in the Bible, so surely we're not going to find anywhere in the Bible that the name of the Holy Spirit is "The Trinity." I have no objection if others want to call each member of the Trinity by the name "The Trinity," but in all honesty I believe that distorts things. The Father is never called "The Trinity" anywhere in the Scriptures, and neither is Jesus. So I wonder why anyone would want to say that the name of the Holy Spirit is "The Trinity."
I'm not making rules for anybody else, just giving my "humble" opinion.

At John 14:15 and 16:7 the Greek word is "Paraclete," meaning "one who consoles" (Strong's G3875)

About half the DF's go back? Really?

i know some who went back and promptly faded, some who went back and were "bt" jws (barely there), a few who went back and quickly got df'd again usually before they even got privileges back.. but the one that takes the cake (in my opinion) is the former po of my parent's congregation who had been giving dc parts for years getting disfellowshipped a couple of months after giving the rousing talk, "abhor what is wicked, cling to what is good.
" only after his reinstatement did i discover that was his third df.

I think Brown is exaggerating a great deal when he asserts that half go back. In the New York City congregations where I attended for 30 years, about 15 were disfellowshipped and only about 3 or 4 made an effort to get back in. In the vicinity where I live now, I know of 8 who were disfellowshipped and only 2 went back.

The name of the Holy Spirit is "Counselor" according to the New International Version. It is "Helper" according to the New American Standard Bible. It is "Friend" according to the Message Bible. And it is "Intercessor," "Advocate," "Strengthener" and "Standby" according to the Amplified Bible. -- John 14:16.

i have feelings of betrayal like i experienced w/god's so-called organization.. peace to all of you ones with honest intentions.

by LDH intick, tick, tick.. the governing body is dying one by one, faster now.. young people who thought they would never see themselves getting old now take meds for cholesterol, alzheimers, diabetes, blood pressure.. the end isn't here.. tick, tick, tick.. kids who walked away from the wt after being warned that they would die like a dog in the streets instead are very successful young people with real jobs, families, and assets.. empty threats stop having an effect.

It appears that the Devil has changed his mind about having "a short period of time." We haven't had a nuclear war such as he seemed to have threatened us with in the 1950s and 1960s. We haven't had a "World War" since 1945. There hasn't been a horrible holocaust such as in the days of Hitler's concentration camps nor any pograms such as those instituted by Stalin. The Spanish flu hasn't returned since 1918 nor anything like it. Etc., etc.
Sure, times are tough for a lot of people, but it does seem like things have settled down somewhat except for the threat right now by Muslim extremists. But we're living far longer than our grandparents, and many diseases have been brought under control. Things are sort of quiet compared to earlier parts of the "1914 generation" period. It seems to me, if the WT has any semblance of truth in it about the Devil's activity, his anger must have brought on a heart attack or stroke, and he's taking some time to rest up a bit. Poor fellow!
