nothing was ever said about me arriving in my lotus esprit. just a few smiles and admiring looks from some of the elders!

Did anyone accuse you of being materialistic?
by freedom96 inthese days, it takes a lot of money to make ends meet.
i live in southern california, and it takes even more.
let alone if one wants to get ahead in life.. in order to do that, either one needs schooling, or must own their own business.

What is the bad you all share
by TisInYourWishbone inone thing that is categorically true of associations, clubs, congregation and is particularly true of jw's and ex -jw's is that their constituents, members, followers have common traits.
.
what are these traits that can be considered negative amidst the jw's and the ex-jw's.

I always disagreed with ....
by fulano indisfellowshipping on smoking.. especially smoking a cigar from time to time does not have to be harmfull.
but i personally have disfellowshipped persons for smoking sigarettes, although i never saw a good biblical base.i mean ..how many filthy fat friends did we have, addicted to sugar, carbs, and you just knew they were going to have health-problems sooner or later.
now i smoke cigars, maybe one good cuban a day, and i am slim, active and can run 10 miles without any problems.. who had the same doubts about this dogma?

Number of 'Anointed' down to about 4000
by nicolaou inso i was at the 'memorial' last night (that's a whole other story) and i got into a converstaion with an elder afterwards.
i asked him why no figure had been printed in our kingdom ministry for the number of uk partakers last year.
(in 2000, the figure of 300 was given, down from 319 in 1999).

there's always a chance china might change to a capitalist country, and then the figures may go up once more by a few thousand.

thanks for that good example of how hard hearted JWs can be, it reminds me of how the Jewish priests twisted the law of the sabbath.
whats more important, doing good for others or knocking on doors selling magazines? there's a time and a place for everything.

by minimus inif you've left or are considering leaving the "truth", what is the most difficult thing that you must deal with?

i'm finding it difficult to adjust to being 'spiritually' on my own. mind you, when i look back, i sometimes felt like that at meetings.
now i'm trying like buster, to adjust the 'black and white' attidtude. trying to be more loving and less judgmental.
stopping going to meetings wasnt hard, it was a relief from mind programming i was recognising in most things they said.

have to agree with you there...Roger was just the best.....Ian Flemming, the writer of Bond, wanted Roger to play Bond from the start, but he was tied to doing The Saint, so Connery did it instead.
