btw concerning your "wt police" post, i also went to wolverhampton conventions but used to volunteer most of the time which meant i had to go to other conventions, mostly cardiff but sometimes cpalace.

i think for me its one of those strange experiences you go through when you start to wake up. when i started to realise that there was going to be an end to my association with the JWs, things just never went right.
well, i'm just glad to say that i'm out of that repressive, negative and unloving enviroment.
the thought of getting married at the kh was very depressing.

i have to say that i never wanted to get married at the KH ever, or want a WTS service as the main part of the day. it would be my day the way my me and my to be wife would want it. no the way others would want it.
recently we had a post where a non-jw asked what to expect at his jw's wedding.
he was told not to expect certain things that have a pagan background such as rice-tossing or the bride throwing a corset to the virgins unmarried girls at the reception.. but somehow wedding rings are allowed at jw weddings!.
any idea why?.
dont forget the bridesmaids,wedding cake and veil.
a jw family member tells me that dealing in stocks and shares = placing capital at risk in the hope of obtaining financial reward without working.
he claims that it is therefore unchristian.. is this view correct?
apart from stocks and bonds donated to it, is there any evidence that the society uses subscriptions to deal on the markets?.
i dont think you'll find the WTS saying that it's unchristian. they'll probably say thats its about how you view it, not whether you do it. although i think it is a gamble.

Is this scripture saying that Jehovah is the Holy Spirit or that the Holy Spirit is part of him? Notice Spirit spelt with a capitol S, and then spelt with a lower case S.
Does this give rise to the question of the NWT being a dodgy translation?
The next verse 18 ends with Jehovah [the] Spirit.
Also noting in verse 17, that there is no freedom in the WTS, is it then reasonable to suggest that the Spirit of Jehovah isnt with the WTS?
Questionable stuff.
Are these reasons why Ive never read these verses in any WTS publications?
And can anyone advise me as to which is the best bible translation to use?

yes, as members of the governing body, they knew full well, exactly what carl's writings meant.
it's a good point bjc, but a point that really doesnt get anyone anywhere.
i really couldnt give a stuff if anybody like your thread or not. it really means nothing to me to argue about what you say.
Ray's book was a good read, and helped me understand the way the WTS works, but i felt that the things mentioned about the WTS was just the tip of the iceberg, and a look at history through rose tinted specs.
if only we knew the real truth about the WTS.
but it will come sooner or later, and it wont be nice.
after i got a haircut recently, a look in the mirror revealed a little too much recession of my hairline for comfort.
i saw that 'horseshoe' shape atop my head.
so, while i was away, i got my head buzzed.
i shave my head cos im receding and it looks like it aint bolding but it aint gona last long. eventually it all disappear.
i know we were taught to study all the wts stuff.
prepare for each meeting, prepare for service, (gotta know the articles) etc.
i mean with all the personal study to do, how could anyone have time for newspapers, novels etc.
