New Light on the United Nations (U.N.) (Scarlet Beast)
by UnDisfellowshipped inthere appears to be "new light" in the latest watchtower magazine (june 1st 2003 issue).
several watchtower publications for the last 50+ years have said that the united nations (u.n.) organization ("the scarlet-colored wild beast" of revelation) would definitely be the organization that will carry out jehovah's judgment on "babylon the great" (false religion), and then, under satan's [gog of magog's] direction, the united nations organization would become "greedy", and try to attack the remaining remnant of the "anointed" jehovah's witnesses and their companions, the "great crowd" of "other sheep", and then jehovah and jesus would destroy the united nations organization, along with everyone else who was not a jehovah's witness.
here is a quote that shows this: .

Colon Cancer Treatment
by ExpandedMind inyesterday i found out that my best friend has colon cancer.
they removed what they could of the tumor, during the colonoscopy, but my friend now needs to wait another 8 days until the inflamation goes down until an ultrasound can be done to see how much remains and also to check to see if the lymph nodes are enlarged.
she knows that she will need to have surgery to remove the section of intestine that has the cancer, but they don't yet know what "stage" it is at.

Very sorry to hear this news, exp. mind. my mom-in-law had a colon resection and survived without any mets for 16 yrs. till old age caught up with her. Wy first wife, Brenda had a colon resection for CA and never had any spread of that type. (Unfortunately, about the same time, she developed a totally unrelated CA called carcinoid syndrome. Very rare lung CA and was not able to tolerate a lobectomy due to extreme asthma). But, she hung in there for about 6 years as the strongest fighter I've ever known. The colon problem never came back (the doctor even gave her a free tummy tuck during the surgery). She always was gorgeous. Concerning the colon CA, Twice, a very competent internist attempted removal with a scope. This was unverifiable as to its sucess. So she went ahead with the open surgery which was sucessful...the reason I mention this is even though surgery through the abdomen is more involved than colonoscopic removal, I felt it was more sure and less likely to leave anything. But that's just my opinion. If I had a choice, I'd want the most complete removal. Your freind will need you. Looking back I felt I was strengthened by God to help her.

Why the left is failing
by jelly inmoderate
i define a moderate as someone that occasionally disagrees with their party of affiliation and will (and have) crossed party lines to vote.
in short, someone that does not always vote for one party, will criticize their party for errors and occasionally agree with the other side.

Yeah, Jelly, I feel the same. Having been a neutral critic for decades, I now voice my opinions. Dems seem to have lost relevancy. To illustrate how far this has gone: most of the voters at my place of employment went rep. the last 2 elections EVEN THOUGH IT IS A CLOSED UNION SHOP. Even the union pres said off record he couldn't vote dem. in good conscience. When dems see their power bases start to slide that oughta tell 'em something. We can't stand liberal rhetoric and its so easy to see thru 'em.

For those who became JWs as adults...
by Sara Annie inbefore i begin, it would probably be helpful for me to (in a nutshell) explain that i am not currently, nor have i ever been, one of jehovah's witnesses.
my experience with the organization is peripheral in that my extended family became heavily involved several years ago.
in maintaining a relationship with that part of the family, i had relatively extensive dealings with the jws (for a "worldly" person) for many years of my childhood and beyond (if you're at all interested, you can read the details of my experience here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/44589/626056/post.ashx#626056).

My first wife became interested while we were engaged. I think, primarily for their teaching on the ressurection. She had lost an infant and was devastated for a couple years. My impression came from their explanation of why God permits wickedness. Their numerology was impressive to me. We were both in our early twenties.
