recently, an article appeared in broadcasting and cable magazine concerning the show "who wants.

apparently, the show isn't having as much success in russia because "people over.

I've noticed the envy over money and success. Even mildly successful people were talked about. A good friend was an elder and conducted the tuesday night book study at his home. There was always talk about his swimming pool, his R.V., hisi Cadillac, etc. Too worldly, on and on. This man was the epitomy of generosity. Even gave a new car to the circuit servant. Always went out in service but because he hustled, was a teacher, and owned a successful business, people were so outraged. Those of us who tended to hang together did seem to be more financially secure and I feel this was held against us no matter how generous and unassuming.

i recently snuck a read of the km newsletter, which talked about assembly preparation.

aside from how ridiculous it is that they have to tell people not to push and shove (duhhh), i thought the quotes seemed a little, well, hokey.

i don't have it with me, so i can't quote it, but it was what i can guess is a commonly cited compliment: that the hotel manager/police/venue host said they are "thrilled to have jehovah's people" with them because "your people are so joyful" and so on.

The "Jehovah's Witnesses and the Divine Purpose" book. This made it look like they had discovered the truth and had

God's spirit exclusively. Like an immature 22 year old, I was so gullible and accepted the lies and distortions as truth and allowed myself to be influenced by fast-talking, shallow Bible-quoting imbeciles and promptly quit college in my 4th year of pharmacy school at the University of Cincinnati.

do you think that god enjoys killing people?

it sure sounds like it to me; jw doctrine more or less scared me into thinking that god is going to kill all persons whom he/she thinks is not doing his will.

my question is, how can god kill someone for not being "christian", or following the bible out of sheer ignorance?

Absolutely, Shamus. How did it get the accredation? I have a vague idea how the canon was established but that doesn't give me much faith in it. It was a real stretch to say it didn't contradict itself as I tried to purvay when I was a Witness. I believe in a God who created things because of the absolute odds against so much in this universe having just happenned as in some gigantic quantum vacuum fluctuation. Even that requires a preexisting wave function to occur. It is very upsetting not to know about God and his purposes. It is so hard to "know one's place" and humbly realize we will never know the truth about the substance and form of God and the fundamental answers about his creation.

I remember many years ago, reading an article in "Popular Science" by Robt. Gentry. It concerned radio isotope dating and stated essentially it had been determined that many dates were off by a factor of a thousand. I was so impessed I sent the article to the society's writing dept. Shortly after, it appeared as testimony in the new "Reasoning" book, I think. I don't recall if they acknowleged my mail or if that even was the reason the quote appeared. Now, of course things have changed completely.

A print of the painting "the Elegy" showing the devil being bound with a chain thru his chest while Martin Luther King, Bobby and John Kennedy. and various popes of the past were watching from above. I can't find this painting anywhere and don't remember the artist's name. It was dark and smoky and deep red. I'd love to find one for sale.
