quick intro
by LP_gurl ini just recently found this forum and found it very interesting to read.
i'm not a jw nor have i ever been.
i grew up in a christian home and was always told not to accept flyers or magazines from jw's.

The quickest way to ruin your life is becoming involved emotionally with a JW... trust me, it'll mess you up, so stay away from 'em, and also, keep in mind that they will tell you we are evil vile people, but all we are, are people who chose to think for themselves rather than be brainwashed by the religion! Good luck, best wishes. ^_^ and give him the URL to the forum, maybe he'll learn.

Considered Suicide ?
by Guest 77 inafter reading about the two jw's committing suicide and larc's comments, how many of us have considered suicide?
i saw a movie about a man trying every trick in the book to committ suicide and failed.
it got to the point in the movie that you know his next new attempt would fail.. most likely some people prefer to die without committing suicide.

Once, right after I left because of what the elders said to me, but I didn't do it because I realized I was FREE from prison, not still trapped.. ^_^

What teachings from the WTBTS still hang on now that you've left?
by NaruNaruChan infor example, i think i'm the only lesbian in the world who dates with a view toward marriage.

For example, I think I'm the only lesbian in the world who dates with a view toward marriage. Anybody experience the same kind of dogma in your everyday lives? Like, you have to catch yourself and go "woah... what the heck was I thinking?!"

How do big guys at Brooklyn benefit from six million followers?
by micheal ini am 99.999% sure jw's do not have the truth, but maybe some here can enlighten me.
what do the big guys in brooklyn have to gain?
do you believe they think they have the truth.
-
NaruNaruChan
Micheal,
They believe in it, that's their gain. It's not a matter of whether or not it's true for them, they've been brainwashing themselves for years, the same way a drug addict gets after years of abusing their bodies... they just get used to it. These guys don't see themselves as misleading millions... they just do it. That's what makes it so devious... this kind of abuse spans over a century of mind abuse started waaay back in the day.. and now it's just blown way out of proportion.

Are you a different person now from when you were a JW?
by NaruNaruChan ini got an e-mail today from an old high school friend who, after we met for coffee, said "wow, you're normal again!
i mean, you were boring, stuffy, and generally not much fun when you became a jw.
now you're back to the old so-and-so that i remember, i love it!

Has anyone else experienced that since you left?
Are you back to your old self yet? Or are you still depressed from the losses you faced as a JW? I'm back, better than ever because I appreciate what I have now. ^_^ I left the org. with my sanity, with my youth, and I feel in tact. ^_^ How about you?
And if you're still hurting...what do you do to make yourself feel better?

Post your favorite JW "DEMON" story
by MoeJoJoJo in.
we've all heard different stories floating around our congregations of different ones(bible studies, or brothers or sisters) having an encounter or 'problems' with demons.
what was your favorite?.
-
NaruNaruChan
I had a sister tell me that because I received a scholarship to go study in Japan that the demons were trying to coax me away from jehovah god by luring me with extra education. I turned down the scholarship, too.. but I recently contacted the international studies office and they said that they would gladly reoffer it to me.

What Most Needs to be Changed
by jst2laws ini have often reflected on and commented on the issues of what i believe the most devastating watchtower policies:
1 unscriptural and incomprehensible blood policy
2 child molester protection policy
-
NaruNaruChan
I selfishly want to say that the disfellowshipping policy needs to change, but... I would have to say the blood issue first, because people are DYING... then the pedophile one, because that's just bullshit that they protect pedophiles. Perv's need to be stomped... and then disfellowshipping.
