Who really writes the talks
by anglise inhallo everyone.
the earlier thread about the min school reminded me of the number of times that i researched and at least partly put together items and pub talks for 'he must be obeyed'.. this was necessary because he worked full time in a demanding job which left very little leeway for cobbling the many assignments together.
at first being a good dub wife i felt guilty at doing this but in talking to others whose husbands also worked full time and were not part time cleaners or window cleaners i found that several other elders wives had always done this.. not only the talks but also sorting out the school assigments, the schedules, field service arrangements, sorting the auditing, coach and accomodation for the dc and ca, checking the accounts etc.. lots of these sisters also helped their children put together their items.. rather makes a mockery of the male privilege of "taking the lead".. most elders and ms are unable to cope with all the pressures and work if their wives dont do most for them.

WoW Bizarre!!! That pic triggered a memory I have of myself holding my bottle as a baby and my arms were getting tired and I put my feet up held the bottle with my feet and let go with my hands, I remember thinking, "hey this works ahhhh, now my hands can rest, this is cool." Only I didn't think in words it was more in feelings. How wierd is that. I have never been able to recall anything before I was 4 years old and now this!
What a spin out.

Did anything a householder said ever make an impression on you?
by Alleymom incoming at this as a householder rather than an ex-jw, i'd love to hear from any of you about comments from householders that made an impression on you, back when you were active in the door-to-door work.
since the jw's first knocked at my door 13 years ago, i've done my best to give them something to think about every time they knock at my door.
i always introduce myself by name and try to get their names.

Yep,
I vaguely remember a uni student who just kept beating the sister I was with on every point. That made me think. Also another time I met a Lady who used to be a witness and was now a mormon . This impressed me because I thought, how could you have the "truth" and then go to the mormons, it made me think again.
But thats all, mostly I didn't find anybody home. lol

Disunity among Apostates.
by refiners fire inyou know, in the year and a half ive been here i have certainly noticed that personal conflict flourishes among the apostate/ ex dub major players (and not so major players.
) consider the irrepairable conflict between our simon and herr steinhaug and his band of norwegian major players.
consider the relatively recent bill bowen war on this board.

YEAH, individuality, independant thinking and action, FREEDOM RULES.
We can band together with like minded individuals but ultimately what we are fighting for is freedom.

Did Any Of You Ever Believe In The Explanations Of JW Prophecy?
by minimus inas a born and raised jw, i was taught that not only did we have the truth but we also had the keys to understanding of bible prophecy.
i was able to explain the gentile times timetable, the reason for 1914,etc.
but there came a time when i really came to appreciate that i had no real foundation for these "truths".

Hi Min
I didnt even learn the prophesies, it was all too convoluted for me, I just sorta said huh? That doesn't sound right but it must be if its in the bible. Pretty dumb huh?
