SYN - YOU CRACK ME UP! I just about met my second death.
Anyways, I have to go find me a mop and pail, and a fresh pair of underpants .
here is a brief outline i have prepared for the brothers (not brotherettes) who will be handling the symposium at our international conventions entitled "dangers of the internet : do not be misled by those naughty, naughty apostates":.
part one - getting to know the enemy's territory.
ever since alan turing developed his theory of the computational engine, things have been looking dark for all witnesses of jehover on the electronic information frontier.

i have no doubt in my mind that the society will bash the internet with a part at the district assemblies.
the reason i say this is because if you look at the worldwide reports there has been a decline in publishers in the more industrialized countries who have access to the internet.. some of the brothers and sisters are finding out the contradictions that we hold in regards to some of our teachings and the constant change of views on issues of voting, blood, donations, new light ect.... for example do any of you know that in bulgaria you will not be disfellowshipped if you take a blood transfusion.
yes that's right, you will not be disfellowshipped because the society signed a document with the european commission promising not to take sanctions against any of it's members if they choose to take blood, in exchange for legal status in that country.
I believe it Spectromize.
The internet will be the main focus of their drivel for the next while.
What's next? Hmm...television, radio, pencils,...macaroni & cheese?
Demons everywhere I tell ya' (they're in the those little packets inside the mac & cheese).
we went to a movie this evening and while standing in line i look over to the line about 50 feet away and see a pretty woman waving at me.
i have no idea who this is.
she looked familiar but i was clueless.
This must have been about 10 years ago. Don't ask me why I remember, but just reading these threads, it came back to me.
When I lived in Atlantic Canada, I remember a particular brother & sister. They were actually really decent, kind of 'hip' if it's humanly possible while being a JW. The brother had been disfellowshipped before, was reinstated, and every once in awhile, I'd get to talk to him. He was a really great person. (1981/82/83)
I move to Toronto years later and working late one evening, I board an all-night bus here in the city, only to stare face to face at the bus driver who happened to be that 'brother' I was talking to you about who used to live in Atlantic Canada.
I saw him more than a few times, but being that I was fresh out of the organization, I was quiet, paid my fare, didn't utter a word. What a shame. But there was no way of knowing then. I figured EVERYONE who was a JW knew I was either DF'd/DA'd or inactive. So being the good 'ex-JW' I was, I didn't want to make this brother uncomfortable or me having to face rejection.
Years later I saw him driving the Rapid Transit train in the eastend of Toronto. That was a few years after seeing him drive the bus. I haven't seen him since.
I cannot say I've run into anyone as of late. I look so different now I'm sure, no one would recognize me. I just rethink my visit back to Atlantic Canada this past summer, and I figured that I could walk smack dab into a JW there, and they wouldn't even recognize me.
Oh well. Interesting reading these messages. I actually get a kick out of this stuff.
As years go by, and I realize the conditional terms of association or even acknowledgement (generally speaking) - if some of the people I once knew are still JWs today, friendship as I know it today, would be NON-EXISTANT.
But I one day hope I'll run into someone from 'way back' who is no longer part of the Borg.
Thanks for sharing, I love these threads.
or an apostate..hate that term..i walked away from it, i dont believe any of it anymore.
so who is going to be the first to tell me to leave so as not to taint the board?.
i am 48 female married 30 yrs to same man, very moral, no drugs no alcohol no smokes..just common plain jane here..since i dont believe does this make me bad association..if it does i laugh in your face...now having said that and getting past this, sounds like so many here are disgruntled..if so why do you stay?
Angharad...I just noticed how old the post was originally. Good grief!
Oh well....time to put on my glasses.

Greetings Jokemyster, and welcome to the forum. Stick around, you appear to be one with some spit n' vinegar in ya!
One thing though, I just wanted to touch on it (no biggie):
you said: ...why cant YOU people start asking questions, and stop relying on WBTS for the answeres?...
Well, the name of the website is a bit tricky because it appears as though it's solely a JW website. But you'll probably notice, many of us are NOT Jehovah's Witnesses any longer. Any observed disgruntledness is just people expressing their frustrations of having BEEN Jehovah's Witnesses in the first place. Angry that they were (past tense) dupped by this religion. For others, they experienced some unpleasantries as members, and here they can speak-up and not be silenced.
Many of the members on here, can speak out here. At the Kingdom Hall, you can't. If you do...well you won't be around there for long. Here, you can speak your mind, and rant and rave about the 'goings on' at WTBTS. Don't worry, we are NOT governed by their decisions.
Look to the WTBTS for answers? HELL NO!! any answers we need, we can find them right here. For most of us, it's 'been there, done that'. Many of us have come out of that religion with plenty of issues which needed to be discussed, dealt with. After that: the healing begins.
Another great thing about this forum is, we can exist here on-line without being muted by the WTBTS. We can share our stories to former JWs, existing JWs, questioning JWs, and those who are curious about what they are all about, from the point of view from former members.
If we can help sway anyone from joining the Jehovah's Witnesses, then this site has done its job along with a majority of all its participants.
Much is discussed here, as you have probably seen. There's a lot here for everyone. I'm glad you posted Jokemyster. I hope you'll hang out here for a long time to come.

with all the emphasis put on armageddon in the org.
can we throw away all the signs that jesus gave, just because we quit being a jw?.
does armageddon scare you as much as when you were a jw?
Right On! Tashawaa
our hall has 3 sections of seating, we always sat in the left section all the way in the back if possible heh.
it's funny: it seemed like all the foreign people, immigrants, etc, sat on the right side, all the "goody goods" sat in the middle, and all of the um "shady" people... all the people i would think would become defectors sat on the left.
hehe.
