WWF: Latest Campaign

just thought some of you may find this interesting.. riding on public transit/transport here in toronto, i saw these very puzzling ads depicting a man stroking the feathers of what looked to be a 'snowy owl', with the caption reading something like:.

'....some birds are excellent for cleaning up and absorbing oil spills' (not exact wording...but .

so i finally checked out the site.

next week dansk (ian) is going into the hospital to start chemotherapy.

although i wish i would have thought of this before--ian mentioned on this week's vigil thread it would lift his spirits to receive cards from us on the forum.

I'm pleased...just reading some old posts and saw that you Ian, received my letter. Good! I'm so happy you received it intact.

Great idea folks. Any cards or letters can do a person a world of good.

It helps the spirit and can only add in the on-going wellness of one of our cherished board members.

This guy (Ian) got me to open up about a lot of stuff. He encouraged me to shed one last piece of Dub residue once and for all.

I posted my story as a JW/post JW. Thanks Ian for kicking my backside. It worked!

Now....let's get this fellow inundated with goodness.

Ya know...it was a surprise, but I had heard that he was battling some sort of illness.

Peter Jennings is one of our 'exports' to the United States, and I do believe he took up U.S. citizenship.

He was applauded far and wide, for his 9/11 and post-9/11 coverage.

Peter was born and raised up here in Canuckistan (thanks Pat Buchanan...really). He took on a job down south (ABC) and did what he did best.

There are so many Canadian newscasters in the United States. I've lost count.

If there are any ... yes, any on 'FOX' I'll be surprised, but maybe not.

(((Outnfree))) - I'm confident you will beat this. There is no other way, and besides, after seeing you a week ago, I think you're still looking pretty damn good. I know the chemo is making you tired, but you've done very well. The support you have is incredible.

I'll get a kick in the ass for this: but I think our 'new' haircuts look great.

Jann (((Kidneybean))) is looking awesome as well. She went through quite an ordeal back in 2003. I've seen her 3X in three years, and she's looking excellent.

Brenda. Well...anyone who has had the honour to meet you will not be disappointed. I wish I could talk with you more, but the time goes by quickly.

It was great to share a meal with you, Jann, Lena and Walter. The food at Zorbas on the Danforth is incredible. Come to think of it, maybe that's the cure....yes it is: hummus from Zorbas. I'll have to bring that with me when I get back over to the Detroit area. That may happen sooner than you think. (If I get to Sarnia, ON. in the next couple of weeks)

Sending always, positive thoughts and well wishes to an incredible woman: Brenda (Outnfree).

it's been over 20 years since i laid eyes on a couple of people from this part of canada.

these people, even while i was still a practicing jw, were incredibly kind and loving to me.

i don't know if these people are still jws; if they are even living in this part of ontario.

I'm very relieved, considering there were Severe Thunderstorms looming overhead and around Pearson Internation Airport (4:00 p.m. approx.) at the time.

A success story. Minor injuries. No one died.

Grading of Disfellowshipping Offenses

just putting this out to you.. have you encountered, or noticed on occasion how what you were disfellowshipped for, also dictates who will associate with you, post-jw?

yes, i'm talking about those beloved ex-jws/df'd/da'd/apostates.. by that, i mean, if you were, let's say, disfellowshipped for scriptural/doctrinal issues, perhaps in the ex-jw world, you hold yourself or others of that ilk, in higher esteem?.

those that were disfellowshipped for smoking, heavy drinking or drug use, perhaps as previously not strong people.. those that were disfellowshipped for sexual misconduct: (file under: other) and similar to the above.. it's interesting.

On The Art Of Fading

in october of 2000, i faded away from the watchtower.

like most people, i have family and friends who are jw's (including my wife and parents).

fading is generally the best method for people in that situation.

When I first came to this site; other ex-JW sites as well, I appreciated much of the advice presented. Or, so it would seem.

But I had to wonder with regards to the original poster of this thread, if they indeed: FADED

Has expatbrit faded? Did he/she really leave the Jehovah's Witnesses completely?

Have we met-up with a scenario comparible to the story of the 'mice that were instructed by another mouse to go put the bell around the cat's neck'.

Does anyone follow me here?

There are folks who can give excellent advice. Some of which, may actually work. But can they actually DO IT, themselves?

Has the author left the Jehovah's Witnesses? Has he/she successfully faded?

IF he/she has indeed faded...that's great.

Faded is a euphimism for 'not-out-yet' in my opinion.

So, what advice or information are we following? Someone who has actually successfully faded? Or someone who wishes he/she truly had?

I have not yet met anyone in-person, who has successfully faded.

The advice originally posted in this thread is good, but I still wonder until this day if the author has 'actually' made the break

I've met many folks who've left the Jehovah's Witnesses, none of whom were successful at fading. The more they tried to fade, the more suspect their activities/inactivities became.

I repeat: Is this merely: the leader of the mouse clan asking another mouse to place the bell around the cat's neck?

I hope not. But this one has had me scratching my head for years....

If you have left, not faded, I do indeed, take my hat off to you. You are no longer 'lukewarm'.

Bone Pain Update

to those who were good enough to respond via pm and post to this friday morning update of mine on the vigil thread:in fact, last night was a rough one for me, beginning about 2 am est.

on wednesday, i went to get my complete blood count (cbc) and i had bottomed out in white blood cells, so home to virtual quarantine after a shot of white blood cell production stimulator neupogen.

one of the side effects can be bone pain, and i felt some pressure in my sternum and vertebrae, but not too terrible.

It was an absolute delight to speak to you last week. I think we must have spoke for nearly 3-4 hours. So much news; so much to catch-up upon.

I'm pleased that you are on the mend. You are a dear person. You are a beautiful person (physically/emotionally).

I enjoyed our visit last summer over in Windsor, Ontario with (kidneybean) Jann.

Having lost a parent to cancer, I know that all that one knows or experiences up to the moment of diagnosis, is like: naught. It all comes to a grinding halt/standstill.

Where does one go from there? The wonderful thing is, you went from there.....----.....to here. Here and now. Alive and well, benefitting from the wonders of modern medicine, but inner strengths as well. Your trip to the American Southwest was indeed, therapeutic. I did similarly back in July-August of 1987.

I think of the incredible innate wisdom of our North American birds. I think of our crows, and I think of our ravens. We'll add other cordivae while we're at it: Blue Jays (Stellar/Pinion Jays), Canada Jays and North American Magpies. Some of these birds are sacred to North American First Nations' People.

There's much solace we can garner from our surroundings.

Wishing you much goodness in the cyber forum. You are continually remembered and cherished by many.
