LOL...too funny!

Angharad, I had something similar happen (not with the toilet) with my pet bird. She's a very curious creature and will inspect just about anything within her reach.

I was preparing some water for making spaghetti. I filled the stainless steel pot almost full. The bird (Sunshine) was on my shoulder (not the song, silly) curiously looking down over my shoulder.

Occasionally, I will have her hop on to my finger, and place her on one of her favourite perches. I go to the washroom for a moment, and I don' t know how long it took, but I returned to the kitchen to find something splashing around in the pot, and having a ball doing it.

Sunshine was diving into the water, and rubbing the water under and over her feathers. I nearly died, because I thought she had hurt herself. But on the contrary, she was having the time of her life.

Dumped the water, grabbed the bird, a towel, and proceeded to blow dry her (which she loves). And yes, the little monster, LOVES spaghetti.

I'm sure a cat, under any circumstances would be quite a sight. That was hilarious Angharad.

Wanna help a 5th grader with their Science Project

our school, plainview elementary in ardmore, ok, is having a science fair.. the fair will be held march 25, 2003.. .

i am a fifth grader and my little brother, reid, is a second grader.. we decided to work on this project together.

are keeping track of how many e-mails we get back, and what cities, states,.

My JW Folks

so now they have branded me an apostate and not fit to talk to, they have never met their 1 and 2 year old grandchildren and are smeering my name all over the place because i wont send thm pictures and let my wife email them with information on whats going on in my family...my outlook is simple...either they except my whole family including me or they can put the fact that they have a son and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren out of their minds...but now i am starting to doubt that...whats everyones thoughts?

Craig, I don't know how many people on here have experienced similarly to you. Countless I am sure.

Family break-ups as a result of shunning is such an integral part of the JW family plan.

Divide and conquer.

Craig, it must be incredibly painful for you, your wife and your two children. Sad to say, it's not YOUR choice that things have had to turn out this way. I'm sure deep-deep down inside, your parents are aching to see their grandchildren, but the Borg rules again...like a section out of the novel: Farenheit 451 or 1984.

I'm always sad to read these incidents. Craig, I hope you'll remain here. You'll find that there are many people who have experienced similarly.

I hope you'll find comfort here.

I am so sorry to hear of this. I wish it were different for you .

telemarketers & junk mail

tired of telemarketers & junk mail?

here are some good ideas about getting rid of annoying calls and junk mail: three little words.... .

i suppose some degree of commerce would grind to a halt if telephone solicitors weren't able to call people at home during dinner hour, but that doesn't make it any more pleasant.. .

Brandy, it works! I have heard about this before, but it does work.

I understand, most telemarketers know this stunt already. Still...it does work.

I tried it once. A local newspaper (right-wing rag) was trying to get me to subscribe to their fish-wrap...so I said: "Just a moment please...." many minutes went by as I went to the washroom, kitchen, etc., and when I returned I heard the message from the telephone company: "PLEASE HUNG-UP, PLEASE HANG-UP or dial your operator..."

Hilarious! They did not call back, but trust me, I wouldn't put it past them to try again, and again, and again.

Call-display is great, just in case .

i just got home from my sociology class about culture and one of the things we were asked to do is list some things that were unique to our culture/country.

so i ask you, my friends from various countries around the globe....what is a symbol that is unique to your country or culture?????.

Rayzorblade is a bit of mixture, let me tell you.

Canuck for starters.

My parents/grandparents/great-grandparents etc. were all born in Canada.

The only exception was my maternal grandmother's mother, she was born in 
		Newfoundland,

which was a British colony before joining Canada in 1949.

It's a mixture of Scottish descent, Irish and Mi'kmaq

(First Nations, native Indian from Atlantic Canada/Quebec/Maine, USA)

as well as, Acadian French.

Add'm up: you get alot of alcoholics

Can't shake the feeling the end is near, help me

i hate this feeling .. i try and reason with myself thats its the life long programming that i have been through .. but the world events atm are really getting me nervous ... please people help me get past this :/edited by - m0nk3y on 12 february 2003 1:34:50.

Hey Monkey.

Believe it or not, about 20+ years ago, I went through the same thing.

I too felt like 'the end' was near. It was a real mental battle when I left too in 1983/84. I honestly felt like 'Armageddon was around the corner'.

20 years later... nada.

But Vivamus is correct, the programming we undergo is constant. Fear is what ensnares us, keeps us in the organization's stranglehold.

Time is what you will need Monkey. Being here is a good way to get a grasp of how most of us have shed that skin we wore while being Jehovah's Witnesses.

We're doing very well, and no longer live in fear.

I am so glad you expressed yourself and your concerns. We're here to help, encourage and allay your fears, whatever they may be.
