Filipinos/Filipinas, live and work abroad.
Where/what did you discover?
There are people who are of Asian descent living beside me.
Inday is a common Filipina name for women; many Filipinas work abroad. Maybe (in our paranoia) she is writing from the United States, another Asian country, Canada, Europe or perhaps even Australia/New Zealand (Filipinos are there too).
I guess the thing we should be mindful of, especially regarding those who do not own English as their FIRST language, some things can be lost in the translation.
If she/he were in an English speaking country, perhaps the same story would be more fluid.
Let's cut Inday some slack, shall we?
If we give her much suspect, how can we expect her to post HERE in confidence?

Tumirang ako doon sa Southern Tagalog region (1988-1989) sa Batangas.
I could be wrong, but I understand and know how it is to live in the Philippines.
Inday. That's a name (pangalan) I know very well.
She (Inday) is stating her experience with a mixture of her own native tongue (Tagalog, Ilocano, Cebuano, Waray, Illongo, Pangalatok)...to name a few dialects in the Philippine island archipelago. With 7,100+ islands to chose from, dialects and Tag-lish (Tagalog-English mix) can render some written word, suspect.
Inday: paki sabihin mo sa kami, iyong kwetohang sa lahat. This is not good Tagalog, but I am asking INDAY, to share her story in-full with us here.
When I lived in the Southern Tagalog region of Luzon Island of the Philippines, missionaries were plentiful of EVERY sort, JWs included. Jehovah's Witnesses have been in the Philippines for a long, long time, yes...even in the small city I resided in. But I mostly dealt with Mormons (Latter Day Saints). I lived there in the late 1980s. (1988-1989)
Inday: kung gusto mo, sumusulatin mo sa aking kahong dito. I wish you well.
All others, in the Philippines, English is spoken/understood for the most part, but writing it, is not as easy. I know, I spoke Tagalog better than I wrote it (Inday can tell you, I'm sure, by reading above). The Philippines is an incredible country, dynamic, and a place where I had many life-changing episodes.
I don't post here much. But....when I see certain tell-tale signs (kababayan), I can't help to get in here and give someone a bit of credibility.
INDAY, may not have any other outlet to state her case re: JW dealings in her communities there in SE Asia.
Please allow her state how she feels and express it to the best of her abilities in her 'known' English.

as mentioned in my other thread, my daughter lena is having brainsurgery on monday, jan 24. the surgery will last 6-7 hours, so i'm hoping the board members will be willing to make a special effort tomorrow to send positive thoughts, healing energy, good wishes and prayers her way.
we are asking that the surgeon's hands be delicate and skillful and that lena does not bleed overmuch and that brain damage be minimal (if not non-existant).
surgery begins at 8 am eastern standard time (us), but we have to have her to the hospital by 6 am, so this is "good night!

Brenda, you sure as hell can count me in on the positive vibes/thoughts.
I've had nothing but upbeat thoughts, positive this/that and everything with regards to Lena.
Lena will be fine.
I'm sure of it.
After she heals from all of his stuff, as promised, we'll have to get her on the Canuck side of the Detroit River to treat her to a 'celebration' beer.
Lena: you're gonna be A-OK!
Brenda. Being a mom, there's no knowing what you're going through, but well.....knowing you as I do, I can imagine that this is an incredibly difficult time. But Lena, she's gonna ace this one.

i am so terrified!.
#2 daughter came home from college on 12/18 with a violent headache, nausea, neck pain and great fatigue.
we took her to the dr. on the 20 and again on the 21st as she had kept nothing down for 3 days.
I seldom post, but what the hell.
Considering that Outnfree is a person I have met in-person more than a couple of times, let me asure you, she's one of my absolute favourite persons that I've met via this forum.
I stand by that.
I'm pleased that the information that I have read regarding the upcoming operation for Lena is something that is identifiable, as well as something that the surgeon is skilled with.
(((Outnfree))) as I have shared with you in e-mail about my friend (Robert) who passed away very suddenly a couple of years ago (neurofibromytosis), his sudden death due to a brain aneurysm were brought on by a hereditary predisposition. Unfortunately, they missed the tumour which caused his demise. With Lena and yourself, you are on top of this. Well read and investigating this 'lesion' etcetera.
You all did the right thing. You're also in a great place (Greater Detroit), where some phenominal medical procedures have taken place, not to mention excellent hospitals and world-renowned medical teams.
I suspect, our beloved 'kidneybean' (Jann) has been an incredible asset during this very trying time. She's one helluva woman, I really and truly admire and respect her. You've got a good friend in her. Jann's an amazing person.
I'm confident that Lena will be fine. Mind you, spending your 19th birthday under one of those damn awful hats (hospital caps)...oops, not to mention the gowns, will probably make Lena's eyes roll...but she'll be in good hands. It'll be a grueling 6-7 hours, but she'll pull through. I'm not only positive in my thoughts about this, I'm damn sure she'll be looking at you on the day after surgery, asking for some goodies of some sort.
Psst!!! Canucks: get ready to send her some Canuck goodies.
Tell Lena, next time she's in Toronto, she'll get a pint of tasty Canuck beer, courtesy of Ray.
But that has to wait until, post-operative recuperation measures have been followed.
Worse comes to worse, I'll go to Windsor, and get you folks to cross the river and we'll spoil her on the Canuck side of the Detroit River.

an extrem strong earthquake happened recently in the indian ocean near island of sumatra.
level 8,5 - 8,9. no contact to many islands and coasts anymore.
no phone to the maledives and other touristic islands possible.
A shaken and very devastated Sri Lankan friend residing in Los Angeles, has found out....that his family: mother and father and sisters, along with their husbands and children: gone.
No one is left.
No remains have been found.
The town of Galle, is along the Indian Ocean.
He's a mess.
Very sad. Very sad. I didn't know exactly what to say or do.
He's almost despondent.
Most of us, here....are lucky....aren't we?
this was one of the most satisfying nights of my life.
my brothers and sister were here, along with my best friend, her friends, and her family.
we had xjws here, a few catholics, and a non-denominational guy got to say the prayer, which was lovely.
That was absolutely lovely CG (((Athene))), I wish I had been there too!
For me, it was a slow start. The evening before (Christmas Eve), my workplace had what they call an "Orphan's Christmas Dinner", that's for people who not only work where I do, but regular customers who frequent the bar/pub who have no family in Toronto. So, when I arrived, there were probably 30-40 people, including iiz2cool. He and I got tons of food, wine and were treated excellently by everyone there. Even my boss' golden retriever provided some entertainment. It was a lovely Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day.
I had Christmas dinner at my best friend's place. He and his nephew are from the Philippines. Their neighbour, now a widower (Canadian WW2 veteran), also came over. These wonderful Filipinos really know how to throw a party.
I had a few presents accompanying me, not much; very slim Christmas here, but.....that didn't matter, everyone over there (my friend's place) heaped upon me, more gifts than I ever could have imagined. I was given some nice winter clothes, gift certificates, cash, running shoes and tons of food to take home. My refrigerator is the fullest it has been in ages. I was well taken care of.
What I thought was going to be a pretty much 'run-of-the-mill' Christmas, turned out to be quite magical, warm and I was very happy. I even had more than my share of 'Christmas cheer', courtesy of Canadian Club.
It's now Boxing Day, things are calm. I have many cards, thanks to so many, and I'm feeling way more upbeat than I have in eons.
I hope everyone, including my dear friend CG's magic keeps on spreading.
My Secret Santa recipient's gift will be late, but I think it'll be worth the little wait. It'll keep the holiday going, just a little bit longer.
