Hi Lin. Thanks. Don't have carpal tunnel syndrome yet, but my eyeballs are about to fall out from lack of blinking. So much to read on the board, so little time.

Hi Jesika, thanks for welcoming my husband xjw_b12 and me to the board last night. I have been following your pleas of help through the last week. I really feel for you right now and hope all works out well. I work in a law office up here in Canada and we do a lot of custody cases wherein we get our government run Children's Lawyer involved. It is very helpful to be able to mediate such problems as this. With child services, although I don't know how it is run in the U.S. , wanting to meet with your son, that might be a good thing. They may be able to help.
Does your son want to see her?

Hi everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome. Yes my husband has been trying to get me off OOPS!! I mean on here for a long time. Now that he has, I think he's sorry now . I had to rush to work this morning just so that I could post this, I feel like an obsessive compulsive.
Stephanus asked which calamityjane I am . I am "an accident waiting to happen" I got that name years ago and it has followed me into adulthood. My husband just cringes when I tell these stories but they are good ones, because it involves him. Two years ago, January, we were at a sleigh ride of course there is the usual jostling and throwing of people off the sleigh into the snow. Well when it came my turn xjw tried to throw me off, he came with me I landed sideways on his boot and broke two ribs. I had x-rays done at the time but they couldn't find any broken ribs, I was having so much trouble with it that finally in May of the doctor finally did a bone scan and found that I had two broken ribs.
And now you have to know the "rock" story. Craig and Katie, I think he will start stalking me after this story Here goes "dear". That same year with the broken ribs, its now Thanksgiving (October up here) I'm healed from the rib incident. We have a family ritual, where every thanksgiving weekend we go out to a favourite park take a family picture in the same place (so over the years its gone from the two of us, to three kids and then two dogs) and then the usual walk on one of the hiking trails. Well this particular day xjw decided he was going to spook the kids so he was throwing rocks into the bush, which made it seem like some wild animal was following us. We had the dogs with us so I wasn't worried. So close to the end of the walk we're walking down this hill, he's about to throw this rock and my son was just turning around at the time, so of course he didn't want to be found out so he tossed the rock (the size of a large grapefruit) well guess what! it ricocheted off a tree and hit me smack in the back of the head. Knocked me right off my feet and out cold. He thought he killed me He rushed me to emergency. All was fine I had a nasty concussion and had to take most of the week off of work.
Now what are the odds of that happening, only to me, calmityjane.
A note to "siegswife" - yes there is something wrong with you if you didn't have impure thoughts with my husband's catchy subject line.
A note to "found" - no you wouldn't scare me off this site, I'm hooked and loving it. I hope we can be of help to others that join.
And "Mulan" - I think you're a cool mom, I wish I had a mom like you.
Also those apostafests sound like a great time. I'd love to have one near us or even in our area. I'd love to meet you all, you sound like such a great bunch. I love the humour. Laughter is good for the soul.
TTYL. LOL calamityjane. "I know I'm going to get a phone call soon from xjw" I have call display at work, so maybe I'll ignore him. hee. hee.

Disfellowshipped? I got a question
by sableindian inif a person is disfellowshipped, can they talk to anyone in the congregation?
and if not, what scripture says they (the disfellowshipped person) can not.
and, has anyone ever heard that an elder or someone else suggest a disfellowshipped person wear a letter "d" (the scarlett letter) when they go to public functions like an assembly?

I know ins't fun to torment them. A number of times I'll be shopping in the grocery store they actually turn around so quick that it makes your head spin, they high tail it another way. They pretend they don't see you.
On occasions when I have an attitude, depending on hormones, I'll say Hi, how are you. You should see the look in their eyes, complete horror. Like oh my god, she said hi to me, Jeh is going to strike me down! There was one occasion that there was an elder and his wife standing in the grocery line at the til, I made a point to go in line right beside them, I made eye contact with the elder and said hi, you should have seen the look the wife gave him. Priceless!

Who here is shunned by family?
by Brummie inremember the watchtower that asked "are jws a cult?
" and then listed things that cleared it of the accusations of being such?
cant remember the date.. anyway one of the things it said was that "cults" usually have a lot of ex members testifying against it and the damage it has caused to their family lives.

My husband and I have been out for over 8 years now. Its not been easy being shunned by my family but you eventually get use to it. Up until last year my parents would see my children but I finally put a stop to that as I felt they were trying to brainwash my young daugther into the borg. My Dad, who is an elder, wouldn't even step into my house to pick up the kids, he would stay out in the car. I would just laugh at that.
My brother also an elder, shunned me right from the beginning. He has two children that have since grown up and got married. It hurt when I'd find out that they were getting married and of course never an invite to the wedding, the only way I would find out that they did get married was through my daughter. That hurts but then you get over it and carry on with life.

Welcome Yellow Lab. I'm new here too. I still have yet to post our story (my husband and I are in the midst of putting our story together, I told him its too long lets make it short and sweet, but He wants to be sure the details and chronology of events are right). Anyways, my Husband and I too were refused marriage in the kingdom hall. We were both raised jw's. I eventually got baptized when I was 16. I started dating him when I was 22 and he was 19. Three years later we wanted to get married. He was involved in going out in service, his Dad was an elder, he gave talks., the whole thing, although he was not baptized, he considered himself an witness. We talked to the elder that performed the weddings (which was my husband's uncle) and he refused to marry us in the kingdom hall. So what ended up happening was a number of brothers and sisters that were going to attend our wedding eventually felt harassed enough and had to bow out, my own brother did not attend. We did get married, had a small wedding, it was small but intimate. This was back in 1984. My husband did get baptized a year or two after our marriage. We since have raised three children. We left the borg around 1994 after being refused the blood card at a service meeting. That is basically where our story will begin. It was quite a turn of events for us, especially myself as my parents and brother are still in.
You will find a lot of encouragement on the board as I have found this last week, since I first started to watch the different threads. My husband has been trying to get me on here for the last year but I felt there might be a lot of bashing, but you will find that we have similar stories, loved ones we have had to leave behind, and new friends that accept us with unconditional love.

The break between meetings
by freedom96 inwhen i was a young child, i remember there being a small break between the meetings.
you could get up, walk around, associate, and then go back in for the second half.
at some point, they changed it to where there was just the song.

Hi, I'm new here.
Yes I remember the break between meetings. My friend and I would use that opportunity to run across to the store and get liquor laced candies and eat them through the WT study. Yum Yum. Gee was it because we were bored? I'm sure they were in the 60's
