Doctrinal Uncertainty
by NeonMadman in.
i found this on a mormon discussion board, but i think it's every bit as appropriate here.
just substitute "watchtower doctrines" for "mormon doctrines"....

No way will I be a part of the Watchtower census! Their 'celebration' has nothing to do with Jesus any more than their beliefs have to do with God.

WHY NOT JAHVES or YAHWEHS WITNESSES?
by Deleted ini used to find the overuse of gods name at the kingdom hall irritating.
in particular, one brother must have used "jehovah" twenty-plus times whenever he said the opening or closing prayer to any meeting.. why did this bother me?
two reasons: it is absolutely not the right way of saying gods name.

I agree with you, Glen. Seems to border on 'taking God's name in vain' There always seems to be someone in the congregation who polishes his spirituality by using the name of God repeatedly in prayers.....or do they think they get points for the number of times it is mentioned?
How many times did Jesus call his father by name in front of other people???

Jehovah's Witnesses can now VOTE!
by UnDisfellowshipped injehovah's witnesses were raped and tortured by the thousands in malawi because they obeyed the watchtower society's rules, and they broke caesar's law and refused to purchase a political card in a country that only had one polictical party.
now (since 1999), jehovah's witnesses are allowed to vote in political elections!
i would love to hear everyone's comments.

Nobody criticised the apostle Paul for appealing to Caesar as a right of his Roman citizenship. As a right of my citizenship I desire to vote and have done so many times both in and out of the JWs. I won't let a bunch of morally challenged morons in Brooklyn decide for me what kind of a government I will live under.

Describe Your Spirituality
by minimus inmost witnesses believe that if you leave the "truth" as taught by jehovah's witnesses, you lose your spirituality.
i know some here that do not believe in god.
others are somewhat agnostic.

Hi Minimus! I believe in God more strongly now and know that he has a purpose for mankind that doesn't involve schlepping from door to door with magazines. I see him as the Creator and his son as the mediator for all mankind. Prayers aren't always answered in ways that are readily apparent, but they often are answered in ways that require a day or two to sort out.
If anything, I believe that I'm more in tune with the spirit now than before when I was a dub.

You know, now that I think about it, I was a pretty damned nice Witness
by berylblue ina hell of a lot nicer than anyone else i knew.. and i'm only writing this because it's not really immodest because you don't know who i am.. i never went to the kh without some homebaked cake or cookies for the elderly ones, or a small gift for someone, or some cards telling someone how much i appreciated them.
the more i disliked a person, the harder i would try to befriend them.
usually, the reason i disliked them went away (not!

Good for you, Berylblue....you have the true spirit of christianity so lacking in the borg. Don't let your experiences with those pharisees cause you to be less than the kind, caring person you are.

Name Things That Used To Get You Upset And Now Don't
by minimus ini remember people getting very upset because they didn't called on to answer by the watchtower conductor like they felt they should.
some people used to get very upset if they had to work out in service with the same person, twice in a row.
of course, now, it's no big deal.

I really hated the term 'spiritual food'. The stuff they served up at the meetings wouldn't qualify as pig slop!
