Welcome Jacqueline!!!! Yes, the JWs do become very clannish and if you aren't part of their clique they will pretend that you don't exist. I could never understand why they made such an effort to find new people when their so-called brothers and sisters in their midst were ignored and even shunned. What is your job/career? Like it?

i'm a deskside support guy working for a service company, at one of their contracts.

i enjoy fixing things, although some of the customers could use a good knock on the skull sometimes.. i make pretty decent money for what i am doing.. for me, it's what i've wanted to do my whole life.

i had a computer from the time i was born, and love it since then.. what do you guys do to bring home the bacon?.

Retired as a Veterinary Technician with specialty in anesthesia and emergency services. Some experience with large animals but mostly cats and dogs. Loved every minute of it but the St Bernards got too heavy for me to lift!!!! Currently I teach Agility and campaign my dog to finish her titles in the sport. Warrigal

My husband and I have decided that we don't want the elders in our home. As the one who is baptized, I will meet them outside and tell them that I don't want to be associated with them any longer and that they are not to return. I hope they listen this time because if they keep pushing the issue and show up again I'm gonna be rude!

Who was the Bible written for?

i am having a discussion with my elder bro-in-law, and he says the bible was written for all people.... but i'm sure i've read somewhere that the wt says its only meant to be understood by the faithful and discreet slave..or 144,000..am i right?

i'm a bit confused on this point.

anyone got any references that i can include in my reply to my jw bro?.

Interesting question. A brother who is also a pioneer of long standing made the statement that the Christian Greek Scriptures were not written for the other sheep and are addressed to the anointed. The other sheep are awaiting the opening of the 'new scrolls' after armageddon. I don't know if that is official WTS doctrine or just off the top of his head.

the reason that i am a little afraid is that four out of my five grown children are still jws and if they knew that i was on here.....well nothing would change, would it, they don't speak to me now.

well i have just lived through one of the worst weekends of my life.

something i never want to happen again.. let see if i can tell this and make some sense.. (sorry emotions are still running high).

we found out we got a house in the north side of canberra so saturday morning we spent moving furniture etc up there.

Please explain 537 in layman's terms...

hey guys,.

i'm doing research on 607 and i understand how historical chronology differs and how the wt really missed it by 20 years.. but it seems the anchor year has something to do with 537 and 70 years of desolation.

counting back, 70 years would be 607.. so i've been told that that is how the "bible's chronology" verifies 607.. does anyone explain what this is all about?.

Thanks from me too, AlanF. I was never very good at the mathematical aspect of explaining JW beliefs. One thing that helped me was researching secular history especially Jewish history. They say the fall of Jerusalem occured in 586bc and I believe them because even though the records of their chronological history were lost in the destruction of Jerusalem's temple in 70 ce; some people remembered and rewrote what was lost. Hi Sirona; Perhaps if you explain what a mountainboard is......is this something that looks like a skateboard with wheels that you go down mountainsides.....think I saw one in a commercial. I've done mountainbiking but have never heard of a mountainboard. Warrigal
