Just to clarify... we didnt do anything worthy of "disfellowshipping", however it certainly could be enough for a "strong fit of counsel" and taking away of our "privileges". Whatever. I am not going to give them the time of day, or allow them to take our peace of mind. Kiss my old white hind end, "bro". If you all (the elders) got nothing better to do than act like little policemen.. you need a life.

Here's why I say that, and I point this to those of you still in the congregation, still trying to decide what you want to do.
Recently, our family had a little family reunion gathering of sorts, and we were in the company of some extended family that were either DF or DA, to varying degrees. We made it very clear, to any and all in attendance, that we wanted to be respectful and kind, despite any previous perceptions about our "status".... and that our feelings on a lot of things had "softened", and "changed" over the last 2 years.
I am being purposefully slightly vague, but I think you get the point. At any rate, a good time was had by everyone, we ate dinner with, and had a good time with a few relatives and friends from the past, several were even "wicked" and "mentally diseased". Our little shin-dig lasted a few days, so it was more than just a "quick" visit.
It was a private thing, for a private reason, mostly to catch up on family, and to re-connect with alot of family members that we havent seen in a long long time. Without coming right out and saying it.... the family knew instantly that things had changed for us, and that were throwing off the robes of "shunning" and were taking on a new perspective.
Fast forward about a week after, and we get a call from an elder. It seems that some over-zealous member of the family that is out to make everything their business, and to fulfill some need to be a hero, "turned us in".
Now, the brothers would like to meet with us... "just to chat". Ya sure. One brother, who is constantly trying to "befriend" me, tracked me down just prior, for a little less formal "chat", to let me know what was up. I politely informed him that our business was just that... our business, and no one else's. After an hour of him pointing out scriptures and WT articles, I got a little hot under the collar and told him to relay the message to the rest of the body.... our affairs were our business, and for them to mind their own! If they didnt have the guts to come over to see me themselves, or to even look our way, then they have absolutlely zero rights to judge us over what we do in private.
I dismissed myself shortly thereafter, before I might say something in anger. The next nite I get a text from Brother Elder Asshat.. "you need to meet with us asap. This Thursday night works for us." I didnt respond.
Soon a phone call, I kicked it to voicemail. And another, and another. He left a couple of messages, each one more irritated than the other. I was ignoring him, and he knew it. Then another text.
The next day, more texts. Still, I offered no response.
My stomach was in knots, I did not want to meet with them for anything, I didn't need to. I found myself getting that scared feeling that I had done something so wrong, and needed to confess, to be in their good graces. And then it hit me like a ton of bricks...... WHY???
They have no power over me and Mrs Harper, NONE. They can rant and rave all day long, but I DONT HAVE to meet with them, to confess, or to even entertain their "concerns". Why should I be "scared" of them, to submit to their "authority"?
And so we didnt. We didnt even return their messages. Saw them at the next meeting, and just ignored them like nothing happened at all. It felt GREAT!
They knew we were ignoring them, and there was not a thing they could do about it!
Oh sure, suddenly the microphone schedule was changed and I was no longer on it.... whooo hooO! Big surprise! Oh,.... the HORROR! That was their way of "punishing me". Idiots.
So the lesson in this, for you lurkers and fenceriders is this..... dont let them take your power. You dont owe these fools anything. They are window washers, toilet scrubbers, and retirees with a title. And its only a title if YOU LET IT BE ONE! Ignore them, and see their heads spin circles! Dont get your stomach tied up in knots. Live your life and tell busybodies to mind their own business, and just to leave you alone!
It works. It might not be your first instinct, and it might not feel natural, and it may not be easy... but it will work.
JUST SAY NO!

Why is it that the "overlapping Generation" concept, though not proven in any way, is suddenly treated as good as solid fact.? Nowhere does any scripture say anything about "overlapping". I know this has all been brought up before, but this is just such blatant BS that it cant be explained without word-for-word notes and/or a teleprompter. And I just love that their back-up references to prove their points are..... other WT articles...... oh brother...
Such garbage. What difference does it make to be a "wicked" generation, or a "non-wicked" generation? A generation is still a generation....and not overlapping nonsense. And what difference does it make what year Franz was baptized?

Mobile Hotspot - JWFACTS.COM - Assembly & Conventions

works at both assemblies and conventions.
i have noticed at the last convention and at my last assembly that when i opened up my wifi setting, tons of hotspots came up for people tethering their tablets to their smart phones.

Someone DID offer this idea up a year or 2 ago, sorry, dont know for sure who it was. I was intrigued, so I tried it, and it works. You just go on your phone, rename your hotspot to JWFACTS.COM, and turn it on. It will then broadcast itself, and anyone with a tablet, ipad, etc with wireless capabilities will see it as an available hotspot. They wont be able to log on to it though, as they dont know your password (usually your phone number).
The obvious intention is to get anyone and everyone within wireless distance at an assembly hall or kingdom hall to notice the name..... JWFACTS.COM, or other very brief message, and to get them thinking.
Its harmless, yet effective.

I absolutely concur with konceptual99..... public talks given by Real Men will be replaced by videos, and pre-recorded sessions direct from the GB, much like the video programs that are included in the Morning Worship sessions. This will eliminate ANY and ALL personalized discussions and "talks" that are subject to individual study and research. NO MORE will there be any place to interject YOUR personalized viewpoint.
No longer will there be a requirement for THINKING. Your services are no longer required.
GET IN LINE, sheeple. All Hail the Great GB !!

Latest rumor - all WT construction "suspended", except for Warwick
by sir82 inheard 4th-hand, but from a full-on believer, so not likely to be an "apostate lie":.
apparently, at bethel's morning worship this morning, it was announced that all worldwide wts construction is "suspended" for an indefinite time, except for the new world headquarters at warwick.. also, the "relocation" of remote translating teams is also suspended.. finally, there will be a "worldwide" reduction in bethel personnel.. all this came to me in a non-english language, and,as noted, 4th-hand.
so it is possible something may have been lost in translation and/or in the multiple steps between bethel morning worship & me.. but if true, it would be quite stunning.

The other day I talked with a friend who had spent 6 weeks at Warwick over the winter. He said it was the most unorganized clusterf#&@* he had ever seen. From a purely construction standpoint, it was hugely wasteful and inefficient, with so much work having to be done several times just to get it right. The reason is simple: One week you have this group of brothers in to do a task, the next week you may have a whole different crew, and no one knows what the other guys did, and what the next crew will do! So tons of materials and supplies go wasted, or get removed and demo'd due to lack of experience.
Now, having burnt the experienced brothers out, their pool of qualified help is dwindling down to nothing. More and more outside contractors are being brought in to complete key components of the build. Many of the "friends" are tired of it.
My friend said this: "I dont understand why they just dont PAY the brothers to do the work. No one can afford to go there on their own dime, and miss weeks or months of income to work there. And then, after they leave, their work is torn out! It just doesnt make any sense!"

The intellectual thinkers and anyone with skills in "reasoning" are gone, and any remaining are being phased out due to "non-compliance".

How sad.
No more Theocratic Ministry School means that never again will just any ol' publisher have the opportunity to "teach" from the platform, after making up his own talk outline, based on his own research or thoughts.
Everything will come from a pretty workbook with lots of pictures and wide margins and bullet points and pre-printed questions. And a space to write your own notes, hey thanks, that's awesome! And then here, lets all watch this awesome video!
Any and all individualized thinking is now eliminated. Just look at the pretty pictures and re-gurgitate the answers from the "workbook". Sounds like a 3rd grade curriculum. Are they going to pass out little boxes of WT Crayons with bible verses next ??!!
And then lets cut the already painfully meager and lame WT and Awake magazines to HALF of what they are now. And then lets make the Bible Teach Book even SIMPLER ????!! Are you kidding me right now? OMG how stupid! Its already so pitifully elementary level that no one in their right mind would get the "truth" from it!

JW "charity" during wildfire crisis

i just returned home after 3 days evacuated.
there is a family who run a fitness center and had opened their doors in disaster relief to affected people with beds, food, clothing and shelter.

I live in an area where wildfires are a serious threat every summer. Our town is pretty small, some of the nearby towns are a little bigger. Anyways, last year, the city planning department asked the COBE if the local KH and parking lot could be used in an emergency, for shelter, storage of equipment (parking lot is pretty big), etc. They really like the fact that our seats are all moveable... so they could pull them all out and have one large room if needed. Now, granted, this would be in the event of a MAJOR local disaster, more than likely fire related.
Being that the town is small, and most people know one another, including the "brothers", the elders told them that it shouldnt be a problem, and that a "great community witness" would surely occur if such a thing were to happen. They were a little giddy about being asked to provide such a service to the locals.
Then they sent word to headquarters, just to confirm. And you can guess what happened next. WT sent out word.... "absolutely NOT". The usual replies with "liability", "insurance" , "we already provide a GREAT service to the community", blah blah blah. So the brothers had to go back to the city and rescind the offer. They were pretty embarrassed.
It was really sad, just sad.
