  Video about boy to not play violin?

  it looks to me as though they are saying don't play at a higher level because your then in competition?

  so if i'm correct what if any bible scriptures can be used to back up this anti competitive idea and are there other scriptures showing the opposite?.

  This has been touched on, but I wanted to make sure it was brought out in full.
  

  Has anyone seen the videos of the songs that are made by WT.? They feature a full orchestra. Many hours are spent by the brothers and sisters at Bethel to put together these instrumental pieces. We are told to APPRECIATE the great gift we have been given with these musical symposiums. Where did they all learn to play so well? Was it just High School band? I seriously doubt it. How many went to a formal, "higher education" program to enhance their skills? I would venture out on a limb and say ALL OF THEM!

  So, playing the violin, or bass, or trumpet, or cello, or flute, or trombone, or guitar, or harp, or drums, etc etc..... for WT music-making is ok....... but encouraging your children pursue their interests so that they can make a living with something they enjoy and are good at...is wrong?

  The blatant hypocrisy is so obvious!!

  I posted this same comment on another thread, sorry for the double post, but this issue brings up so many feelings from my youth. I personally was dissuaded from pursuing higher education in the 80's at something I was so unbelievably good at (not music), and I could have had a full 4-year college scholarship. I vividly remembering sitting in my guidance counselor's office and telling her.."yes, I will NOT be attending college, I have other interests." She had a stack of offers and scholarships on her desk, all I had to do was fill them out. It was a lie, and I tried so hard to convince myself that it wasn't. But I was faking it, I hated that those words came out of my mouth. All she could do was shake her head, and do her best to be positive about the situation. I look back and am disgusted by what others pushed on me.

  The efforts by WT and the self-appointed GB to crush the dreams of our youth is just sick and wrong.

  Tech49 on DC: Experiences are not truthful

  i was sent a link to a homemade video from our summer district convention, not the one i attended, but the next weekend.

  it was a video of a local brother, relating his "experience" of "trusting in jehovah", and how he was blessed.. it was just about 1 short minute long.

  ms harper showed it to me first, she wanted to get my comment on it before she said a word.. background: we both know this brother, he is about our age, so we know the "real" story.. anyways, his story goes like this: this experience goes back about 10 years (jeez, we must be really searching for the experiences now!).

  I know that on the West Coast of the US, virtually ALL building and remodeling has come to a halt. A few little minor things going on where select individuals get invited, but essentially ALL RBC programs have been shut down.

  the wife and i went to the memorial strictly out of respect for my mother-in-law last night.

  luckily our 20 month-old grand-baby was restless and making noise, so i quickly volunteered to take him in the back.

  so i didn't have to listen to the presentation.

  Add to point #5: This is only an invitation. It doesnt mean you made it yet. God can revoke your invitation. You haven't actually made it to the party yet. We know you thought you did, we even said you did....but you didnt.
  

  Point # 11:

  DO NOT ASK any one of the annointed about their status, how they know they got an invitation, or what it will be like to be left here when your spouse is raptured. Definitely dont ask the GB about their golden invitations. See point 5 above.
  

  Point #12:

  The annointed do not receive and are not receiving any more holy spirit than the rest of you. They do not receive or have additional insight or prophecy. Well, except the Governing Body, but that's different, but don't ask them about it. And we don't have a real explanation as to why, its just the way it is. Get back in line please. See point 5 above.

  during the wt study yesterday i had a confused look on my face the whole meeting.

  more of a, wtf, face.

  one paragraph says, "therefore,the number of partakers does not accurately indicate the number of anointed ones left on earth.".

  I caught that same point as well. Yes, I firmly believe they will stop printing the number. They have to. I suspect you wont see it in next years Yearbook. It is meaningless now at this point, and they have just admitted it. This will go quietly away, and no one will say a word about it.

  You watch, the 144,000 number will be next. It will be announced as figurative, and not literal.

  Let us just take a minute and look at this from a real-world perspective. Maybe you dont know dozers and cranes and trucks......

  Has anyone seen all the misc small hand tools for sale? A 7 pc screwdriver set for $27. A used chalk line for $4. 1 locking C Clamp for $10. A mason's chisel, in "good" condition, for $7. Used caulking guns for $2. A used wire brush for $2 ????

  Who in their right mind is going to pay almost full retail for USED UP construction tools? And then pay to have them SHIPPED!??
  

  Oh, wait. Maybe its cause they have holy spirit still in them........I can frame that trowel on and hang it on my wall, with a small plaque that says: "Helped construct Warwick".

  And just think, some young bobblehead is sooo thrilled and privileged to be listing used tools on the interwebs for Ghovah.
  

  How embarrassing.
