One of the main reasons why I left-- they attack education as if it is the boogie man and demonize anyone with a bachelor's or more. God forbid if you're an educated *woman*. My oldest, who has not even turned 10, picked up on the anti-education talk and for a while was insisting that she would not go to college. Mind you, at home she was hearing that she WOULD and that I wanted her to go to my alma mater! WTF!! I have been working on shutting down that mentality and setting her up instead for university. It HAS to happen. No choice for her. Ithas been araround 6 months now that she has not attended a meeting. And I am making sure she never steps in a KH again. I HATE this d#%@ f%#@!? Cult!!!!

by XBEHERE ina friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.
as regards pursuing higher education?
the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

Sorry for typos.im on my phone.
My husband at the time made my daughter and I throw away wind chimes my daughter received as a gift from her kindergarten teacher. I was furious and dedended my daughter's right to keep it. Told him and his brother that I was tired of their superstitious bs and to look up if it reallly had any significance. So, to my surprise, the ttypically spiritually lazy bums googled wind chimes and found that it did have some connection to "falsa religion." My God, I blew a gasket but thetewas nothing I could do. My ddaughter cried her eyes out. An innocent gift from her kindergarten teacher in the trash.
Howevere, that was not my first experience with wind chimes and jw superstitious bs. I bought wind chimes made out of fish scales for my mil. It was beautiful. The woman threw it in the trash with not even a thank you. This was a gift from our trip for our first anniversary. I couldn't stand her to begin with, this act was the first of many that I found truly offensive. So tired of witness bs. F#%@!!!!

"How can girls guard against temptation in this sex-crazy world?"
by Apognophos inthis is from the questions from readers in the 12/15/61 watchtower.
i present it unabridged and without comment.
your own comments, however, are welcome.. "when a girl reaches the age of puberty or physical maturity, her body has developed in the matter of sex more than in the mind.

Jws and poverty
by Julia Orwell inwhen i say poverty, i mean not knowing where your next meal is coming from or being unable to pay your bills or afford necessary medicines poverty.
i'm talking the kinds of poor people who have to get food from charities kind of poor, or long term unemployment living in a trailer/caravan kind of poor.
holes in clothes poor.

I've known many jws who have lost their homes to foreclosure in the 2008 crisis. Many moved in other jw homes while they recovered financially. I know another jw family that is way over their heads in debt, a family of five, that is currently living in the basement of a brother's home. One room for a family of five.
Im in ahorrible financial situation myself, and even before I left, I never would have asked another jw for help. Perhaps you don't see the poverty bc others won't let you see it. It is embarrassing beyond measure to be poor.

Raised On the Third Day?
by TTATTelder ini have some potentially controversial questions.. i have always wondered about these things in the back of my mind, but i would immediately dismiss them.
now i am giving myself permission to explore them further.... a lot of attention is given to how big the sacrifice was on the part of jesus and god when jesus laid down his life.
as the story goes, jesus gave his life for our sins and then was miraculously raised back to life a couple of days later.. consider this.

This doubt that you expressed is one that I've said/ thought from day one. I understand that no father wants to see their child suffer. But, it is as you said, why should I make a big deal out of Jesus' death and suffering if it was FORETOLD. Everyonewas in eexpectation. His sacrifice was minimal in that HE DID REGAIN HIS LIFE.
In summary, I hear you.

Steve2
This elder made it clear to me that he would not have ANY contact with me, even if I reached out for spiritual support and guidance. He said I had let myaelf lie with the demons and that I am no longer his responsibility as part of the other sheep he is to tend to. I was shocked since I was told by another elder that if I ever needed his support I could contact him.
So steve2 the response fitsperfectly what he said to me as I started my journey fading to black from the cult.
