Congregation Pledge Disgusted Elder

at the meeting the other night, the elder who had to read the announcements, which included the $$ info for the new donation arrangement seemed downright disgusted as he read the announcements and asked for the vote.

he said, "well, here is another organizational change" as he read the letter about the discontinuation of the 2nd meeting during co visit.

then after they voted, he said if you have any questions ask this other elder as if he wanted nothing to do with it.

Let's hope so. I remember not being able to keep my disgust about the begging for alms, I mean donation, arragnement for the mags nstituted by the GB. I thought it one of the stupidest decisions in the history of these stupid men, and god knows there have been many. I shared my views with a few close friends and then, realizing I had to remain in lockstep like a good Dub leader, made the decision to tell the rank and file it was up to them but I wouldn't suggest or encourage them to carry their little envelopes for keeping the $ during FS. And I didn't lead by example.

That was one of the first steps toward the exit for me. Hopefully this stupid, greedy grab for $ will be likewise to many more.

every waking moment of my day was lived for jehovahs and his organization and for nothing else.

I usually ignore VG because of her broad-brushed, reactionary manner/rants. She's also a very angry person (men, elders, gay men (well maybe she likes poor gay men), men with large stomachs who can easily get laid while fat women can't, etc. - I think there may be a pattern here (penis envy???)).

On Monday, the Williams Institute will release a detailed study about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people and their real economic status. Drawing on recent data from four different sources, the report finds a sexual orientation “poverty gap”: LGBT Americans are more likely to be poor than heterosexuals, with African-Americans and women particularly vulnerable."

I'm not glad that you are back, but you do seem to have ratcheted back some of your preaching and are less llikely to enter non-theist posts with nothing but your jesus mantras. I thank you for that. Viv and Designs: good luck trying to reach Perry. Don't give up though because it seems, over time, we have had some success in tempering the pontificatory preaching and proseletyzing of the newly (self) appointed Governing Body members of this site and those delusional narcissists who have a direct link to the big girl in the sky and special knowledge of scripture and how the big girl thinks. Some even seem to have gone away, probably to the Rev's site where their narcissistic, delusional mantras can be read and fawned over by each other.

So continue figting the fine fight. We are winning a lot of small battles and likely a lot of big ones as well.

The only thing I would add is to use the anger as rocket fuel to accomplish as much as possible in life: education, travel, culture, art, etc., etc., and whatever fuels your fire. Anger can be a positive emotion if used correctly. Focus, I was a born-in, so can I get a bit of a reprieve?!! LOL.

Welcome to freedom, especially freedom of choice and conscience. You will absolutely love it. And you know what? You will likely be a much better person. Leaving the Borg is the best thing that I have ever accomplished (entering the Borg was the worst). After reading COC i just laughed out loud and realized what a deluded dumbass I had been all of those years. It was humbling, as I would have never thought before reading it that I could have been so blind and manipulated.

Your story is deeply touching; thank you for sharing it. I think everyone on the board knows how I feel about this subject. Live life fully. Hold nothing back. Be who you are, proudly. The Borg is likely incapable of evolving, but the further you get from it the more you will wonder what you ever saw in it. Many of us left family behind, and those wounds may never completely heal. i hope the discussions and atmosphere here do not change for it is a bubbling brew of doubt, bravery and sincere hunger for answers.

these are healthy ingrediants for humans and especially for a jehovah's witness.. this forum offers not just the ability to ask without consequence, but it also offers the means to be real.

Your thoughts on demons, ghosts and spirits

as a jw were taught all about demons but i never had an incident.

my wife believes wholeheartedly says her family including her has had problems with them.

i have met people that even non religious people that say they have experienced a ghost or a spirit.

I'm embarrassed that we are still talking about believing in them in 2014. Otherwise, I think that ghosties, ghoulies, long-legged beasties and things that go bump in the night, in addition to Jah, Satan, Jesus Messiah, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and the Great Pumpkin are all BS made-up nonsense. Wait a minute, I do believe in the Great Pumpkin (all hail Charlie Brown). I do I do I do.

If any of the above present themselves plainly, in clear sight of all of us and communicating so that we can all understand, and allow enough time for scientists to confirm that they are indeed who they claim to be, I will change my mind.
