Cofty,
What in your opinion will need to occur for Britains to wake up? This sounds like something that will need to implode or explode before it starts to be repaired.
a scandal is brewing in the uk.
for many years gangs of asian men engaged in rape and torture of young girls who were in the "so-called" care system.
it is believed there were around 1,400 victims in north west england, focussed on the town of rotherham.. if reports are to be believed, social workers, police and the cpc knew it was happening and everybody failed to act for one simple reason.

the first trailer has been released!
true confession - i'm kind of a geek, always loved star wars and it gave me a bit of a lady boner.
anyone who knows the franchise is probably familiar with the character wedge antilles.
It would help if you would frame an opinion as an opinion. From Wiki:
Star Trek - JJ Abrams: was released in the United States and Canada on May 8, 2009, to positive reviews. Critics praised the character development as well as the storyline in the film. Star Trek became a box office success, grossing over $385.7 million worldwide. It was nominated for several awards, including four Academy Awards at the 82nd Academy Awards, ultimately winning in the category for Best Makeup, making it the first Star Trek film to win an Academy Award.
Into Darkness - JJ Abrams: was a critical success, and its gross earnings of over $467 million worldwide made it the highest-grossing entry in the Star Trek franchise.
The world apparently disagrees with you. And so do I.

Poopsiecakes,
I saw the Big Bang episode with Sheldon and James Earl Jones. It was hilarious, and did a 180 on us as we expected JEJ to diss Sheldon like everyone of the others have (Stan Lee, Leonard Nimoy, etc.), instead of hanging out with Sheldon the entire evening and talking endlessly about his experiences. Funny stuff. Like a good geek I will be at the first of the new trilogy. After that, we shall see.
i don't read too much about sports on the forum.
one of the great things about being out of wally world is enjoying sports without judgement.
i love college football and this, to me is the greatest college football day!
DisArmed,
Ditto. in order: Michigan, Georgia, Neither (can both teams lose?), South Carolina (the old ball coach). Non-Americans don't understand our love affair with college football; sometimes I don't understand it! But it rocks.
it seems like the list of people who are accusing him of rape and sexual assault is growing every day.
i'm skeptical of single accusations but the number of people and the similar stories seem overwhelming now.. it's not a conviction but to the court of public opinion ... guilty?.

LisaRose,
Exactly. Focusing on Spanish Fly misses the point completely. GHB and Rohypnol weren't available at that time. I'm certain the Cos knows all about both of those. He was able to hide the man (the serial rapist) behind the mask (The Cos/Jello Pudding Guy/Dr. Huxtable) for so long because of the mask. Watching and listening to a lot of the interviews with the women, who have accused him of drugging and raping/assaulting them, describe why they didn't come forward clarifies that issue for me. He served - or feigned serving - as a mentor for many of them.
It was difficult for them to believe that Dr. Huxtable/Jello Pudding Man could do such a thing. Just as it is difficult for many of us to believe he is a monster who could do such things. I loved the Cos as much as anyone, but no more. He will get, hopefully, exactly what he deserves. He had his opportunity for his 'day' in court in 2006, but he made that young woman rich rather than face his accusers. If I had lived my life TRULY as the Jello Pudding Man, the Cos and Dr. Huxtable and ONE woman falsely accused me, I would have relished my day in court.
It isn't likely anyone in the media or entertainment will touch him until the day he dies. And that is most excellent.

Poopsiecakes,
I've heard the trailer rocks. I'm a huge StarWars fan (and Star Trek), but the second trilogy sucked the big one. Three times. Is the character you mention from the first trilogy or the second? And puleeeaase posters, how the hell can you avoid posting on an OP where a girl writes that a scifi movie gives her a boner??? I'm in love. The rest of the geeks must be like the nerds on Big Bang Theory - they're afraid of girls!
Seriously, when is the movie supposed to come out? Are all of the characters new? Played by new actors? Will it be a triology? Inquiring minds need to know.

As I’ve briefly mentioned previously, one of the way-cool things I Forrest Gumped my way into over the past two plus decades is that I’ve had the privilege to work with and learn from some of the best investigators on the planet. I am not qualified to untie their shoelaces, but I did learn a lot. Two of the tools investigators use to understand human behavior are the bell curve and the Pareto principle (20/80 ‘rule’). In other words, behaviors typically fall into predictable categories and for example, 80 percent of crimes are committed by 20 percent of the criminals (the Usual Suspects).
I avoided the Zimmerman and Wilson OPs, like the plague, because speculation about what occurred in 90 seconds is difficult if not impossible to determine. The facts and evidence are the only things that matter, and they were determined by forensics and adjudicated by juries which heard both sides. Having said that, what intrigues investigators, besides the facts, are the individuals involved, what is their history, their emotional and psychological make-up, etc. Or, as Dr. Phil states, the best determinant of someone’s future behavior is their past behavior.
Zimmerman, for example, had no history of racism or similar types of behaviors, even though some tried to label him as such. At worst he seemed to be an over-zealous protector of his community with potentially a cop wanna-be personality. Wilson was an honor student in high school and a respected and exemplary officer from all viewpoints. There is nothing in his history to suggest he was a racist or that he targeted blacks, and he had never used his weapon in the line of duty before – if I have read correctly.
Now, back to the Cos. He has a four decade long history of drugging, raping, and/or molesting women who considered him a mentor, if the accounts are true. Four decades. He settled a 2006 civil case in large part because the woman’s attorney had 13 other women who were lined up to testify that Dr. Huxtable did similar things to them. All of the women who have come forward, IMHO, are credible. View the CNN interview this morning of the black woman who felt the Cos’ love a couple of decades ago when she was an aspiring model, which seems to be one of his MOs. She clearly describes why she didn’t come forward (the Cos certainly ‘came’ forward).

if there was no god we would not have an objective standard to tell the difference between red from blue.
who would determine what is red and what is blue if there was no god?
it would be chaos!
Coded Logic,
I'm glad you are on the site; you are yet one more rational intelligent voice to try and be heard over the irrational emotional theist rants. And a very good voice at that. Your OP statement says, in a different manner, what we have repeatedly stated in response to the ever present theist mantra that atheists are immoral whores because we don't have a god to guide our actions.
No matter the amount of empirical data we provide that clearly shows a very strong correlation between atheism and functionality and theism and dysfunctionality, the mantra continues. Only the weak minded, those who cannot self-regulate and the malfeasant require a make believe god in order to behave. Thinking that good behavior requires belief in any god is transferrence. As I have stated before, until we understand that humans can do the right thing regardless of any god-like creature, for no other reason than it is the right thing, we will never achieve the potential locked in our DNA. Religion, and god(s), will always keep us down.

EOM,
Seriously? Is that why you bumped this? Since this OP went dormant 5 days ago, a lot more of the sordid details have come out about the Cos. The tally is 19 and counting, and he has a history of paying to cover up his trail according to numerous sources. As one of the tv judges stated, with 19 accusers the statistical likelihood of the Cos NOT being a rapist is zero.
Dr. Huxtable is a serial rapist and monster. That is my professional opinion.
