I made one direct reference to one of your posts. I agreed with your premise 100%, that we should not believe everything NASA, the government or anyone else tells us. Unless it's Cofty. I would say Viv too, but the scotch speaks sometimes for her… Not that that is a bad thing; it is a very good thing because she ends up talking about girl on girl, which is my favorite topic.

Anyway, my comments are accurate about the entrenched theorists; that doesn't seem to be you. If not, ignore them. I have major issues with uneducated, inexperienced people making definitive statements of disagreement about complicated issues that people with advanced degrees and decades of experience understand and are involved in. And so should we all.

None of the empiricists would suggest that NASA is our god and that we shouldn't use multiple sources, which we have done. Overandovernadoverandoverandover. And over.

Definitive statements devoid of actual facts or evidence should be called out for exactly what they are. We are doing no one any favors by placating stupidity - not the posters, the members, the lurkers and least of all the conspiracy theorists.

Not everyone telling you sweet things is your friend, user, and not everyone telling you truthful things that sting a bit is your enemy.

So let me get this straight, Rebel and the rest of you theorists. There were tens of thousands of professionals who worked on the space program and the mission to the moon. There were computer experts, payload experts, thrust engineers and specific groups who worked on the lunar lander and take-off, re-docking, re-entering the atmosphere, landing in the ocean, etc. - not to mention a thousand contingencies built into the process.

These were highly educated and trained individuals. To believe your nonsense every one of them would have had to been in on the conspiracy and the cover-up. AND maintained that silence for decades. You make grandiose claims, definitive statements and refer to conspiracy theorist websites and data posted by mommy basementers with nothing but a high school diploma and mommy's internet account, as your evidence.

Gotcha.

Of course. We all agree. That is NOT what this discussion is about. It is about empirical data - not emotion or beliefs.

That's a far cry from believing that every professional involved with an incident would have to be complicit in either its actions or its cover-up in order for the conspiracy to exist. Individuals who believe that are either insane, lacking knowledge of anything going on in the world (such as the bush people) or an immature arrogant narcissist.

There is hope for the first two - none for the last category. Their lack of real knowledge is exceeded only by their immaturity, which is exceeded only by their narcissism, which is exceeded only by their arrogance. They wouldn't change their minds regardless of the evidence provided. That is what this OP is really about, and that is what it will be about every time the conspiracy theorists poke their pointy little ears in the sky and their furry little feet in the concrete.

Of course not everyone in the outside world agrees with me; that's kinda sorta the point. I'm an empiricist, and I will believe when the real evidence is provided about any topic, even god herself. Here's the problem: even when real evidence is provided the theorists WON"T change their minds. I will.

The only reason we are having this discussion is that the world wide web has provided a forum where uneducated and unknowledgeable people can have the same access to forum. These people are not simply benign; they can be dangerous.

Dear Conspiracy Theorists,

As you all should know by now, I am an atheist. The reason why I am an atheist is because I decided to be an empiricist a long time ago, which means I rely on evidence and facts rather than emotion. And when I say evidence and facts, I'm talking about empirically gathered and evaluated evidence by experts - not mommy basementers.

So for those of you who feel 'special' because you have accurate knowledge that the rest of us don't, I would suggest that you stopped thinking and requiring knowledge at the Feeling and Emotion stage, which is exactly what religionists typically do and what we did when we were Dubs. So please refrain from lumping those of us who are empiricists into your emotion driven, irrational, look at me I'm special camp. You are much closer to Dubs than are we. The EVIDENCE suggests we landed on the moon and that the Rothchilds DO NOT control the world.

For the past 15 years or so, I have worked closely with various regional and national officials representing many of our nation's (US) law enforcement, intelligence, military and homeland security agencies. I've pointed this out briefly before.

Almost without exception, these individuals and the organizations they represent are, guess what R2D2, just exactly like you and me and the rest of us. They wake up, they go to work and the are committed to doing the very best job for their country they can do.

Plus almost all of them have intensive training, advanced education and years of experience doing what they do better than nearly anyone else on Mother Earth. So to those of you who sit in their mommy's basement using her Internet account to feel good about your miserable selves by feeling you are special because you get it and no one else does, I would say: grow the eff up and enter the real world.

I've worked closely withe regional and national officials in the FBI, Secret Service, and other Homeland Security departments, including former and current security experts who have developed security plans for various US embassies around the world and former and current military experts who are routinely deployed to various hot spots around the globe.

Many of these are engineers or other experts working for the military in various fields of expertise that do not involve guns and grenades as it were. Almost all of them, nearly without exception, are loyal, honest, intelligent, committed. To think that any conspiracy hatched by mommy basementers would have to make each one of these individuals complicit in the conspiracy is lunacy of the highest caliber.

But keep feeling 'special' by thinking you are one of the few who 'get it.' I wouldn't want to deprive you of the only feelings of self worth you gain.

One of the tactics employed by the theorists is that they figure time is on their side. Over time they begin to rewrite history, highlight issues that were long settled as being suspicious, play on the fact that people forget what occurred and spin any and every inconsistency into their theory.

R2D2's tools are well known.

BULLSHIT: "10 years ago any who said the NSA was spying was a kook." Anyone with any knowledge of the manner in which intel was and is gathered at the national and international levels KNEW the NSA was spying on anyone they could spy on and in any manner they could get away with. And the Russians and Japanese and Chinese and French and Germans were and are doing the same thing.

The US is just better at it. And those of us who know more than a little bit about this (I developed and taught an Intelligence Analysis course at one of the local colleges a few years ago - the course was put together with the assistance of the US Military Academy (West Point) Lt. Colonel who taught the same course there)), knew that they would play havoc with the Patriot Act. They did. It wasn't surprising.

Ad hominem doesn't factor when someone asks you what your bona fides are after you make definitive statements about technical and scientific issues. That is called proper debating.

I will ask you again; what advanced degrees and what specific experience do you have that supports your definitive statements. I've partially shown you mine; show me yours.
