i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .

I understand; I've been trying to give Hugh the benefit of the doubt, assuming he is real. If his bio is correct, he is 27? Is this correct? And if he grew up around harshness then harshness would seem normal to him, in addition to his youth. I'm glad you are on this site. I went through the same thing when I left the Borg; I regretted any of the harshness (not much) I showed the friends. I would do things differently. I guess the point many are making about Hugh is that he has a chance to 'do things differently.'

Kate, assuming he is real, I agree 100 percent. The elders reflect their masters, the Dark Lords in the Tower. When I was appointed an elder my 'mission' was to lighten the load and make being a Dub fun. That certainly was a delusional short trip out of the Death Star. I think Hugh is an imposter/troll. But there are a lot of real ones just like him.

Do you believe there will be "Mass Suicides" within the BAC/JW community?

as a "therapist trainee"(still have to take my license test) i worry about all of the religious people out there who might commit suicide if the rapture/armaggeddon does not materialize.

what if the bible is proven to be "a big fairy tale" will born again christians(bac) and jws kill themself?

i worry about some of my older jw relatives that have waited for armaggeddon for 50 years and are still waiting.

The bible has already been proven to be one big fairy tale. Certainly there is some historical accuracy to it, but as 'god's word' it is a fairy tale. The problem: the manner in which it is written it will be 'relevant' for the next generation. And the next. And the next. Isn't that special? So your premise lacks solid foundation. People believe because they want to believe. Belief is the second lowest facet of sentient beings, just above feelings. Believing reqires nothing more than feeling. If the big A doesn't come, someone, after a period of time, will emerge with the 'true' understanding. And people will listen because they want to listen and they want to believe. Screw the facts. Or science. Or proof.

If you are 'outed,' and you likely will be, having been compassionate and kind will serve you well. If not, the sheeple will attribute your mean spiritedness to the scarlet letter you wear and to your (make believe) father Satan. And that's not an opinion.

The sheeple will stay shackled until they open their eyes. Harshness MAY work get some to open their eyes to the Borg, but is it worth it considering the negative affects? It seems that everyone on this site disagrees with you on this point. Many of us were also elders, so it isn't like we don't understand. Most of what you say has credibility; this part doesn't. "Go and sin no more" is where all of us think you should be right now. You have time to re-direct. If you are an elder as you say, and if you are sick of the Borg as you say, be what they aren't, which is kind and gentle. By being harsh you are emulating the dark lords in the Dark Tower.

JCs often cause depression, family problems, etc. If you are an elder you know these things. Why do you not think that treating the sheeple, including the DFed, kindly and gently and 'ignoring' the Borg's directives wouldn't be a better action? The sheeple aren't going to rise up against the Borg because of your - or anyone else's harshness. That will only send some spiralling into depression, anger, etc.. Some will try to follow the Borg's edicts re: reinstatement, reproof, getting 'privileges' back, etc., while some will meander through a very difficult time with who knows what at the end of it.

I would say change your tactics. Treat the sheeple kindly and gently. Ignore the Borg's advice and cloak it in "Jesus" land if you need.

You are correct in stating that you cannot effect change from within (near the bottom). It's good that you know what your limitations are, but blocking other elders is likely a temporary solution at best. Again, I don't understand setting up JCs for any reason. They are very stressful to the sheeple - and elders, requiring lots of time and emotional energy. I would suggest leaving them be. I'm trying not to judge you as others have, but I'm having a lot of trouble accepting all that you say.

Interesting philosphy. Once I became dis-illusioned as an elder (before the Internet was widely capable of exposing the Borg for what it is) and began to seriously question it and despise the old men in Brooklyn, I became very forgiving of the 'friends' for their transgressions. I looked at Dfed individuals differently and could barely get excited about the run of the mill 'transgressions" in the congregation, which were typically 'fornicaton' of some kind (I hate that word). I'm glad that you have a governor on your actions as it applies to DFing, but I'm surprised your enlightenment re: the Borg and the Dark Tower aren't driving you to be kind and gentle to the sheeple.
