Dio,
Well stated. Your mom seemed fun. Did she also say that life was like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get?
I always picked the ones that were nutty. But I've a fatal attraction to Lindsay Lohen, so what can you expect?

A more thorough explanation of my earlier comments about Ms. Davis' heritage/DNA and why it is without a doubt a major contributing factor to her furry little feet embedded deeply in concrete stance:
From the forward for Jim Webb's (former Naval Secretary and a person of ScotsIrish descent) 2005 book "Born Fighting - How the Scots Irish Shaped America" - "It explores how the Scots-Irish culture of isolation, hard luck, stubbornness, and mistrust of the nation’s elite formed and still dominates blue-collar America, the military services, the Bible Belt, and country music."
My money is on the orange jumpsuit.

Fish,
No one is keeping this woman and those like her from believing what she wants. But when it comes to following constitutional and state law, public, elected or appointed government officials and business owners providing goods and services to the public can not use their religion as an excuse to violate those laws.
This isn't a new concept; I'm amazed that the fundies, the irrationals and the right wing/libertarians haven't figured this out. Each time one of these types of issues arise, we hear the same shrill whiney ass complaints from these groups about violating their x-tian or political rights. Cause this is Amurricah by damn.
We live in a constitutional democracy. As Viv stated a few pages back, some need to learn how this process works in the US and essentially every other constitutional democracy.
The parents and grandparents of these people were shrieking with the same shrill whiney ass voices in the 1950s and 1960s when discrimination against identified groups was determined to be un-constituional and illegal. How did that work out for them? They have either died, capitulated or STFU. Just as Ms. Davis and the haters will today regarding this issue.
As Ike and Tina once said: "We can do this nice and easy. Or we can do this nice and rough." SCOTUS isn't playing nice and easy, and neither will the federal law enforcement officers who cuff Ms. Davis and cart her away in the near future if she doesn't comply or quit.

VIolas,
I haven't made any references to her personal life, but I believe rational people would disagree with you that 3 divorces wouldn't be more than a bit hypocritical for such a staunch x-tian. I have reviewed the posts and I didn't see anyone suggest that we gather around her house or courthouse and shout vulgarities. I may have missed it if it occurred. Please reference the exact quote.
My responses have avoided personal attacks on her, other than my belief her reasons haven't anything to do with Jesus and everything to do with her personal hatred. The hatred shown by anyone on this OP or forum towards the religious pales in comparison to the hatred shown by the religious towards those not in alignment with their personal beliefs. And I doubt if anyone on this site really hates x-tians; I certainly don't. I used to be one; I have many x-tian friends.
But I hate their hateful views and teachings, just as I hate what I used to be and what I used to believe when I was one of them.

Fish,
You are once again wasting everyone's time. Now you think an argument exists because she didn't know at the time she took the oath. Really? But keep posting, please. You make it abundantly clear with each of your posts that you don't know what you are talking about, you are lazy and refuse to do any real research, you lack the humility to admit you are mistaken and the self control to avoid the keyboard.
People like her refused to marry blacks and whites years ago - one just recently - for religious reasons. Judges and the like. They all either resigned or capitulated. As will she. None of them 'won' the right to violate the Constitution based on their religious views.
mrs. eden is laying here by my side reading the forum latest posts with me and asked me to send you all her warmest regards.
more to follow soon.... .

EdenOne,
This sounds like excellent news. I am happy for you. And a great big hello to Ms. EdenOne!!! Come on in, the water's fine.

Fish,
The ‘terms’ she agreed on were listed in an earlier comment. You could have read them or conducted your own research, neither of which you seem to be capable of.
Reasonable accommodation, which addresses making allowances or creating options for job duties or responsibilities considered to be essential, of beliefs is required. An example might be a company that allows a person to switch shifts or avoid scheduling someone on Sundays – when working Sundays is essential for the company and the job - if the person requested an accommodation to attend religious services on these days. However, a company would never be legally required to provide an accommodation to a religious person when they are willfully violating the US Constitution and federal or state laws. ‘Accommodations’ does not apply in this matter. This is another issue you could have researched and saved our time.
Davis is an elected official, which means there is no supervisor with the power to terminate her employment and that she cannot be ‘transferred’ to another task. As if she would accept such. This is yet another issue you could have researched.
The City Attorney's Office referred official misconduct charges against her to the State Attorney General, who is a Democrat that refused to defend Kentucky's ban on same-sex marriage, so Davis is not likely to find a champion for her cause in the A.G.'s office. They have asked the attorney general to charge Ms. Davis with misconduct under KRS 522.020 and KRS 522.030. One is a Class A misdemeanor punishable with imprisonment not to exceed 12 months and fine of $500. The other is a Class B misdemeanor punishable with up to 90 days imprisonment and a fine of $250. Which degree of culpability applies to Ms. Davis would be decided after a guilty verdict at trial, but the offense is the same:
“A public servant is guilty of official misconduct in the first degree when, with intent to obtain or confer a benefit or to injure another person or to deprive another person of a benefit, knowingly commits an act relating to his office which constitutes an unauthorized exercise of his official functions or refrains from performing a duty imposed upon him by law or clearly inherent in the nature of his office or violates any statute or lawfully adopted rule or regulation relating to his office.”
Yes, Fish. Orange is the new black. But look on the positive side, Fish. She can start a prison ministry.
dark were my thoughts when i drew these after losing emma.....she was so beautiful...i thought i might say more with art than complaining......

LUHE,
Thank you for the clarification. As for me using hyperbole and exaggeration for dramatic effect. Well, duh.
The only other thing I would say about the efforts of the action groups are: a. You can only do what you can do and you should focus your efforts where they can be most effective; and b. Like Wes Craven (recently passed, bless his mortal soul) and others have shown us over and over. And over. If you don't kill Michael Myers, Jason Voorheeves and Freddie Krueger completely, they will come back to haunt you. You must make certain they aren't merely dead, that they are really and sincerely dead.
Fundie hatred is a disease; leaving even a small bit of it around to infect others will cause bad things to happen.

LUHE,
I haven’t a clue what you are trying to say with your comments regarding perspective. Are you suggesting that gays should just be happy they can openly be together without being stoned, imprisoned or otherwise ostracized? That they shouldn’t worry their gay little heads about such things as medical benefits, retirement accounts, tax incentives, having and adopting children and all of the other economic and social benefits awarded married couples by our society and the US government, including societal acceptance? Or simply shuffle along happily that we now ‘tolerate’ them????
Or are you suggesting that SCOTUS over-reacted when they made gay marriage legal? That the governor of KY is over-reacting when he reminds the clerk that she is violating an oath? When a Constitutional expert suggests that the clerk has 2 options – quit or go to jail? That I shouldn’t have posted this follow-up to one of the most hotly debated topics of our time?
Just what is it that makes you think that perspective is needed? That hate-spewing x-tians and politicos cause immeasurable harm should be ignored, honored?? Their hatred isn’t simply an opinion or a difference – it has caused the oppression of a large segment of our society and directly or indirectly led to young gays committing suicide and assaults and murders of gays, lesbians, and transgender people by those infected by the hate spewers.
I don’t know who Stonewell and other gay rights organizations are; I’ve never heard of them. Even if they are committed to ending discrimination against gays, why does that seem to offend you? The X-tians, African Americans, Jews, Environmentalists, Women and the Gay Asian Hitler Youth Cathlolic nuns all have their own advocacy groups. Why does the gay advocacy group bother you so?
You are capable of making some very good comments; this isn’t one of them. It ranks as one of the worst by any member. I’m embarrassed for you.
