DJ,
Good point. When you find an example of any of us mean ole atheists ridiculing something in error please point it out.
As Cofty says, we don't want to be wrong any longer than necessary.

No.
As Sir stated, ridiculous beliefs deserve ridicule.
i’ve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.
i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.
i knew the gb/organization didn’t represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.
Recap:
i know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.
at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.
in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.
@Steve2,
"Basketball courts are necessary for basket cases"
WTF? What's with this new wise ass Steve2? I LIKE it!
More please.

startingover,
If it is ridiculous it deserves to be ridiculed.
Believer,
Urantia papers? Really? Are you freaking kidding me? Have you and SBF got together to create a good laugh on us?
Is it the lunar cycle? Y'all drinking or smoking something? JWR influence?
(cnsnews.com) -- dr. michio kaku [1], a theoretical physicist [2] at the city college of new york (cuny) and co-founder of string field theory [3], says theoretical particles known as “primitive semi-radius tachyons” are physical evidence that the universe was created by a higher intelligence.. after analyzing the behavior of these sub-atomic particles - which can move faster than the speed of light and have the ability to “unstick” space and matter – using technology created in 2005, kaku concluded [4] that the universe is a “matrix” governed by laws and principles that could only have been designed by an intelligent being.. “i have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence.
believe me, everything that we call chance today won’t make sense anymore,” kaku said, according [5] to an article published in the geophilosophical association of anthropological and cultural studies.. “to me it is clear that we exist in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance.”.
“the final solution resolution could be that god is a mathematician,” kaku, author of the future of the mind: the scientific quest to understand, enhance, and empower the mind [6], said in a 2013 big think video [7]posted on youtube.. “the mind of god, we believe, is cosmic music, the music of strings resonating through 11-dimensional hyperspace.”.
What is it with theists and confirmation bias? Is it a drug to which y'all are addicted?????
CNS, the source referenced by Tenacious. was founded by and continues to be staffed and managed by ultra right wing republican conservatives with an x-tian fundamentalist slant. It is a biased right wing fundie organization.
noone and nothing can really prepare you for the burning pain you feel when your spouse leaves you after 8 years of marriage.
from one day to another, all your dreams, hopes and plans are shattered.. i still have so many questions which will remain unanswered in eternity.. the thread i made a few weeks ago, is part of this story.
after learning about ttatt my plans involved to wake up my wife as well and exit the truth.
My comments in Part I are just as relevant to Part Deux of this tragicomedy.
Make a new plan, Stan.

Whaaaaat??
SBF, I go away on vacation for a week and the braindead theists re-emerge from the shadows and start to terrorize the 'hood. You ARE kidding, aren't you? You've built up some credibility and a following on this site. I'm not one of your homies but you occasionally make some sense.
If you really have joined this nutcase of a cult, you have lost all credibility. You DO know about moroni and the tablets and the other nonsense don't you?
All credibility. All of it. Gone.

I am no longer a beleiver, but I do respect that you are. I won't try to make you feel like you ought to be an atheist now that you are no longer a JW if you don't try to impose, promote, preach, pontificate or proselytize your religion or theism on me. Some people do that unfortunately. Welcome!

Thanks Cofty, but I was also responding to Believer. If you are being led or driven by your emotions, you will respond emotionally when things don't go your way. And this site will make you 'feel' beat down.
I suggest a new strategy R2. Put your emotions, feelings, beliefs and whatever biased thoughts you have about everything on the shelf (or better flush them down the toilet), and open your mind to evidence, facts, and being rational about subjects. It is difficult. I understand. I struggle with it at times as well.
That includes everything in life in addition to debating on JW.com. We atheists continue to preach (like that word?) that an evidence based life is the best life and the only course that's going to advance our species.
The sooner we can leave religion behind, as it has been practiced for thousands of years, the better our species and our planet will be.
