they removed what they could of the tumor, during the colonoscopy, but my friend now needs to wait another 8 days until the inflamation goes down until an ultrasound can be done to see how much remains and also to check to see if the lymph nodes are enlarged.
she knows that she will need to have surgery to remove the section of intestine that has the cancer, but they don't yet know what "stage" it is at.

Has anyone here been treated for colon cancer? Or assisted a friend or a loved one to find the best doctors, surgeons, etc? Has anyone here heard of Cancer Centers of America and know if they are reputable? Their philosophy is to treat the whole person and you are tended to by (from what I understand) a regular doctor, an oncologist, a naturopath, nutritionist and a psychologist who all work together to plan the treatment. You are treated at the center and when strong enough to leave, you go home to recupe until the next treatment is due.
I almost don't know what questions to ask... any input at all would be greatly appreciated.

this past week, on fox, there was another documentary about mj.
after seeing some advertisements about the presentation that indicated that mjs mother would be on the program, i was interested in seeing what comments, if any, she would make about mj.

This past week, on Fox, there was another documentary about MJ. After seeing some advertisements about the presentation that indicated that MJs mother would be on the program, I was interested in seeing what comments, if any, she would make about MJ. Another thing I found interesting, is that a couple of years ago, there was a Birthday tribute to MJ that was televised, and him mother was in the audience.
The scenes that MJs mother made comments, were kind of generic. But still, her being on the program at all, shows she still "supports" him, at least to a degree.
It appears from other things I have read, that they still have a close relationship. And that is how it should be. No parent should be forced by a religious group to shun a child. From that standpoint, I say more power to her. But we all know that, if she is still a Witness, she should not have participated in either show. Or am I missing something?
Has anyone heard or read anything about how she justifies this from her religious perspective? Do you think she might be given special treatment from her elders? Does anyone know if any of the Jackson "children" are still Witnesses?

ive just completed the reading of greg staffords latest book, "the three dissertations on the teachings of jehovahs witnesses.
" although i appreciate his point-of-view overall, i find that his writing is often difficult to follow and at worst, not forthright on doctrinal issues.
basically, i find his writings rather anemic, hes just not forthright; he evidently doesnt want to be dfd!
Writing a book like Greg Stafford did, is like journalling... you can only write about what you currently think on the subject (unless you are choosing to write fiction, in which case you can write whatever you wish). I am sure that if Greg wrote about the same subject matter again at a later time it would show a change in thought. Just look at books that are reprinted and are "updated".
If Greg's hope is to see reform in the Watchtower, then I am all for it. I am certain that his views reflect the views of many of Jehovah's Witnesses that are still actively associated. If reform is possible, especially on certain issues such as "shunning" (not that this is a major issue to everyone, but it is to me since I have friends and family that I would love to be with) then I hope the move for reform catches on like "wildfire"!
SHERWOOD: you indicate you have read Greg's response to the incident where some believe he was writing posts using two different names... can you locate that response and post it? Thanks!

But this morning I visited the E Watchman site and saw that "someone" had asked "him" the question directly (I didn't know it was you! <smile!>) and thought, GREAT! Let's see if he answers the question directly.

ok this one might seem odd to some people... as christians, (i personally am not sure if i want to consider myself christian yet) is the belief that, since christ gave us the opportunity to have eternal life, or an immortal soul, that it was only after his death that we had the opportunity?
in other words did the people who died before his death not have the opprtunity and therefore are still just dead?.
your response is appreciated, as brief as possible, please.

After disassociating from the WTS I began associating with Evangelical Christians. I was still very much a student of the Bible and even through all of my studies I never heard or read anything that answered that question adequately.
For the most part it appears to be a matter of faith. My question was why would God wait until the first century of our common era to send the Messiah? Why not send the messiah shortly after Adam & Eve (if indeed they existed) "sinned"?
The Watchtower, of course, teaches that this allowed a time for people to show who's side of the issue of universal sovereignty they were on. Sounds good, but it is speculative and can only be "proven" by proof-texting the Bible.
If you read information written by persons who are Jewish (probably the more conservative or orthodox groups) who have responded to the claims of Jesus being the messiah, you'll find that the OT appears to indicate that forgiveness can be given by God without blood, or sacrifice.
These are just some quick thoughts. It will be interesting to hear other viewpoints and learn a bit more. It's a facinating subject.
