Seriously, I do not believe for a second that the society or the local congregation destroyed all records of mine even tho I requested that in a letter. I believe that you exist on a data base at headquarters as well as your last congregation.
There has to be a way to track you. If say you appeared at a congregation in BFE years after you left the home town cong. Suppose you were trying to pull a fast one and get baptized all over again and start fresh even tho you were DF'd in the home town. The elders in BFE may suspect something. They must be able to call HQ and confirm your newbie status.

elder bodies are not uniform.

I'm sorry but this made me imagine something like Model # SK34-10J from the Acme Robotic Factory. Are elder bodies from some defective molds? Why are they not uniform? Sorry I am having severe mental hiccups.

what i open up in the paper this morning.. 244 worshippers die at saudi pilgrimage.

"a stampede during a stoning ritual at the annual muslim pilgrimage killed 244 worshippers.. a stampede, during one of the peak events.. hajj minister told reporters.

"all precautions were taken to prevent such an incident, but this is god's will.

The more we examine the effects of the damage wrought on us the angrier I get at the SOBs who started the whole mess. The damage is so extensive, it reaches every nook and cranny in the psyche. Just when I think I have dealt with all the damage another reminder of something else is discussed on this forum. We so need each other. I am so very thankful this forum exists.
My parents are both in their 80s but I wished for many years that they would at least die before the big A. I am just appalled at how the WT took away my natural affection and I did not even notice. There is no way that I could ever tell my parents how I used to feel. It would hurt them so much.

since the watchtower society has been reorganized and split up in all these (sub)corporations, i wonder where the real power is located.

my guess would be the wtbts of pennsylvania, inc. other ideas?

The WT is like a train going over the mountains. It reached its peak in the 80s and now it is going down hill. But the engineer is too old to care so he has drifted off to sleep. Now it is being carried along on momentum from the hay-day of the 80s.
No one is running the WT. It is either going to plunge off a cliff or coast to a stop at the bottom. There isn't anyone with the charisma to get it up the next hill.

generation change

hello this is my first topic on this forum.. i left the jws 18 months ago and am still recovering.

it was after reading crisis of conscience that i was brave enough to leave although i had serious doubts before i was always scared in case it was right!!

and i was wrong.. however when they changed the generation in 1995 that caused me great trauma as i had accepted that as absolute fact and based my life on it.

The generation change went right over my head. It was new light and life went on as usual. I didn't wake up until I found out about the UN.
It took outright hypocricy to make me walk.

Just a little humor to go with the Superbowl!

A guy took his blonde girl friend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench... After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience. Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents." Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?" "Well, I saw them flip a coin and one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: "Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!" Hel-l-l-lo! It's only 25 cents! I hate to think what they'd do if it was a whole DOLLAR!!!!

The Document Some of Us Signed After Baptism

there was a thread a while back by someone who asked if anyone signed a document after they got baptised, and it jogged my memory.

so i leafed through some of the old books and found the old yellow "your word is a lamp to my foot.

" on the last is "a record of christian baptism" (see below).

What a small world! I was baptized in July, 1965. I lived in Huntington Beach then moved to Garden Grove. I used to take my kids to the street to the west of Disneyland in the summer so they could watch the fireworks.
I still have the Lamp book but I did not own it until after I was baptized.

oh well they died on pilgramage so they go straight to paradise --

how different was our attitude in times past when we heard of a non-JW relative dying? Didn't we think it was a good thing? Didn't we think that they had at least gained a spot in Paradise by dying? How many of us found ourselves thinking or wishing that our "worldly" relatives would die before the big A? Our natural feelings were just as screwed up as the Muslims.
