What does your online handle mean?
by iiz2cool ina few of us use our real names as our handles, but most of us use something else, such as a nickname or a variation of our real name.
iiz2cool - it was not my nickname (i really don't think i'm all that cool), but that of an old friend named mike prezelj.
i won't go into how he got the name, but it happened when we were all very high, and you had to be there to understand.

Encouragement for new members
by hooberus inthere are alot of new members here, and i just wanted to say that although most here don't believe that the wt is "god's organization" there are many such as myself (i have never been a jw) that believe that the bible is inspired scripture*.
loosing faith in a religious organization does not necessarily mean that you must also loose faith in god.
i have a personal relationship withn the god of the bible and can tell you that he is real and wonderful.

I don't see hooberus make very good arguments on much of anything. Basically all he does is spout the typical fundamentalist cry (which is SO similar to that of the JWs) and copy lengthy articles from "answers in Genesis" ministries ad nauseum. I don't see anything scholarly or openminded about him.

Not Another Evolution Thread
by Carmel inas i was musing in my shop yesterday gluing poly pipe together, (hmm wonder if the fumes got to me) i was thinking of those that still hold to a) the literalness of the biblical creation story and b) thinking that this obviates the theory of evolution.
it crossed my mind that the human inmune system, by its very existence forces one to reconsider one or both positions.
any thoughts?

Actually, Michael Behe wrote, "Darwin's Black Box" not "Darwin on Trial." The latter was written by a lawyer (NOT a biologist) named Philip Johnson. Behe's "findings" have been criticised by more than a few, including Ken Miller a microbiologist who wrote "Finding Darwin's God." Interestingly, Behe does in fact believe in some form of evolution, including the fact that humans and the great apes share a common ancestor (sorry hooberus).

i doubt the link will last more than a day.
it appears the man had no connection to the jw's previously, he just considered them an "easy mark".

Mizpah,
I think you are filibustering. You either don't have a good response or are afraid of the consequenses.
onacruse,
I don't see hooberus or anyone else substantially adding to this thread. It will die unless for questions like I pose.

onacruse,
I must respectfully disagree with you. What difference would it make to respond on this thread if you are not Christian? Anyone who sincerely wants to read "hooberus's" comments may do so. What harm is done by dissenting? Oh, unless someone wants to keep their mind closed. I simply don't understand why anone should be prevented from responding to any thread. Can you give me a valid reason?

More Watchtower Arrogance
by Stephanus in.
from wt, 15 july, 2003, p. 12:.
let me get this straight: a firefighter who in the face of danger risks his life to save others is only as good as a bloke who wanders around the pleasant countryside, on a pleasant day, having pleasant chats with the local farmers?
