  Do you feel safe where you live?

  i was just driving back from the store on a street where a young man was killed a few years back, as he was murdered right on the street i often think of this every time i drive back from the store.

  his house was about 100 feet from where his body lie in the street and blocks from my house.. i actually feel safe where i live and do know where to go and not to in toronto but crime happens everywhere no matter where you are, you can live in the quietest neighbourhood and right next door the worst can and has happened.

  do you know where to walk at night and where not too in your town?

  My neighborhood is pretty quiet but I don't think any place is really "safe". A suburb of Detroit, Livonia, was named one of the safest cities in the US but there have been several murders there lately. On the other hand, I lived in Flint, MI for several years and had no problem whatsoever walking around my neighborhood after dark. Flint is always ranked near the top of every list as far as worst cities in America to live in. I guess it's kind of funny but I always feel safer in the "hood" than in the "burbs"

  Thanks April! That was a moving article! My brother in law is in the army and he is in Afghanistan as we speak and I hope he is well. I'd hate to see my sister a widow or my nephew and neice without a father. I, too, am getting sick of whiny atheletes who complain about so many little things. Sometimes you need perspective!

  i was an orchestra geek.

  i played violin and took all the math classes i could.

  Aww Xena, I can relate. My best friend from high school and I went to our five year reunion and suddenly all the "cool" guys were hitting on us...LOL And the "cool" girls were mostly married and had several kids and looked miserable. Kinda felt like "Revenge of the Nerds"

  Soledad you were rebellious? No... Congratulations btw. I hope to get back to school soon and finally get my bachelors.

  Marcos, how cool! I've always loved gymnastics! I'm not very flexible unfortunatly so I doubt I'd be very good. I forgot that I did do a short stint in track and field but a sprained ankle cut my career very short...LOL I can't remember how I hid that from my parents but somehow I did.

  Red and Jim, I can empathize completely. Further proof of my dorkiness...I worked at McDonald's!

  I was an orchestra geek. I played violin and took all the math classes I could. Because I was still a dub I wasn't allowed to participate in sports or anything fun so I studied and got mostly A's. Yes, I was a dork!
