  Special Talk in April

  every year there is a "special talk" given around the end of march or april.

  having heard dozens of them over the years, i never quite figured out what was "special" about them.

  certainly no "new light" or anything ... just ... well .... the same stuff.. am i correct or not in my observation ???.

  Watch your language boy/girl

  when we were in the org, we had to watch our language, and speak correctly and never swear.

  people knew we were jw's just by the way we dressed, but also by the way we talked.

  My husband and I have always tried to be gracious with our words, especially in front of our children. But I have to admit, since finding out the "truth" about the "troof" some unsavory words have been flying around our home.

  Pioneering---Did It Make A Difference In Your Life

  many of us pioneered.

  some here pioneered as "vacation", "temporary", "auxillary", "regular" or even "special" roles.

  nearly everyone was expected to pioneer, if you were to stay in the good graces of the congregation.

  I pioneered for over 17 years. I sincerely thought I was serving Jehovah to the full, but I was always stressed to the max. Getting those 90 hours was a killer. And it never seemed good enough. I can't believe I wasted all those years.

  District Assembly Instructions

  am i too thin-skinned or does anyone find that annual km insert dealing with the district assembly offensive???.

  i mean, having to read and comment on those same things every year about not cooking in your hotel room, not to steal food if breakfast is offered, not to poop in the sinks, or whatever they say.

  if you have to give those "reminders," it makes you wonder about the people you are sitting next to during the sessions.. *****rub a dub

  recently i've noticed a lot of people making reference to four-door cars as being the only ones approved by jws.

  Watchtower Society's respect for Christ

  in the december 15th 2002 watchtower magazine we find the article "view matters from god's standpoint", relating to the 113th graduating class of gilead.

  on page 24 is presented a statement which gerrit losch, a member of the governing body made during a talk at that graduation: "...he called attention to many occasions when jehovah said to his servants :i am with you.".

  however, jesus christ is conspicuously absent, since his words which close the gospel of matthew are pratically identical, when he said :" i am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

  Since the scales have come off, I too have noticed how Jesus is conveniently put aside. But week after week the watchtower continues to praise the FDS and GB. Matt 24:45 is in 99% of the study articles. It makes me sick!

  This is my first post, but I was compelled to answer. Just be PATIENT. I Faught my husband for years. I accused him of "apostacy" and being disloyal to Jehovah. He put up with this atmosphere for years. Yes, it sometimes takes years. But be patient. My husband would make a point or ask a question. Sometimes I would get angry at him. But what he would say would churn in my mind. One day he asked if I would like to read CofC. I was so scared. Once I read the scales came off. Jan.2002 was a liberating month for me. I cried for days for what I discovered and for what I put my husband through. The real "truth" hurts. The realization that you have given your whole life to a cult is very painful. So, be kind and patient with her. I really understand what she is faced with.
