  Experience of new elders meeting format.....

  just to let you know that the s2 has come back from london with my deletion on it, so i expect it to be announced on thursday, it will be interesting to see how "my brothers and sisters" treat me.

  anyway with regards to my experience to the new format of elders meetings.... some of you may be aware of the change to the format announced at the the elders seminar 2002 and in the subsequent letter, regarding the handling of an elder whose child has been involved in serious conduct.. basically the change is that a special elders meeting is held, where the elder is questioned by the body on why he thinks his child got into trouble?

  I don't undestand. There must be different rules for different areas.

  I know a few elders with some pretty bad kids (drugs, alcohol) and they are still serving in fact they are considered pillars in the cong.

  I wonder why these guys are not removed.

  some individuals truly enjoy being jehovah's witnesses.

  i think about those that would have liked to be in acting.

  well, having a part in a demonstration in the service meeting or giving a talk in the theocratic ministry school gives one the opportunity to act, be melodramatic, show a little comedic talent,etc.

  I thought I was serving God, and I would get life in paradise on earth. I think most are in the borg for this reason.

  I know of elders that do not like being elders and I know pioneers that do not like to pioneer and I know people in the school that would rather not. But they do it because they feel they are doing God's will.

  True some are on a power trip and love the attention that position and priviledge gives them but for the most part most do it because they truly beleive this is God's way.

  As a newbie its only been in the last year that I have finally been able to see through all the innuendos and doublespeak of this organization.

  Your summary of the watchtower articles have helped me a great deal see for myself the garbage that the r&f are being fed.

  Why Do JWs Only Preach In Poor/Middle Class Neighborhoods?

  as my name suggests, i'm from nyc.

  i've lived in every borough of new york and spent time at most of the local congregations until i finally decided that it was all for nothing (my recent posts on this forum explain why).

  during this time, i noticed an interesting pattern - the jws only preach in poor to middle class neighborhoods.

  Those are some interesting thoughts.

  Where I am from they do preach in the more affluent areas. They are a little more intimidating for the average Jw.

  The bible studies and return visits are found mostly in the poorer areas and among the foreign language population.

  the sept. 8, 03 awake contains an article about a disaster in ecuador.. on page 14 it says, regarding witness volunteer efforts, "by saturday evening,.

  approximately 200 volunteers from local congregations had sealed the windows of 91. witness homes.

  many non-witnesses also benefited.

  Great post Metatron.

  This brought to mind a comment a sister made to me while I was visiting her in Europe a few years ago.

  She said that the local bros were being encourged to do more community service. The reason for this was that some in official position were complaining that the Jws do nothing in that regard.

  Soon after there was an article in awake featuring Russian witnesses cleaning a local park.

  What hipocracy! Helping your neighbor and community should be at the forefront for any christian. But for Jw its only done so they can look good to the world and they can pat themselves on the back.

  I hate this organization!!!!!!

  teaching people.

  i also got burned - out on all the gossip and the other social garbage.
