  What was your ''the last straw that broke the camels back'' moment

  there is a limit to how much straw (long yellow grass) a camel can carry on its back.

  if you keep putting more straw on top, it will finally break the camel's back.

  when you are at the last straw you are finally angry and will not take any more.. my moment (to stop attending all watchtower meetings) was after the harsh treatment from the elders and fellow congregation members of my second cousin who was disfellowhipped as a teenager.

  That illustration. I forgot about it. Even the angels are depicted a little lower than the governing body.

  My deepest condolences on the passing of your cousin. My heart breaks for the son who is has had to endure such harsh treatment at a time when comfort is what he most needed.

  I can't pin point exactly when but it was a series of changes starting with the 1995 generation teaching. I pioneered throughout the whole 1980's preaching that the generation of 1914 would not pass away. The 1995 came and everything changed. It literally felt like the rug was pulled from underneath me. That started the ball rolling.

  Downloading a pirated copy of CoC is exactly as egregious as downloading a pirated copy of the KS10. We justify downloading the KS10 because Watchtower is evil.

  Disagree with this statement. No one is profiting by downloading the DS10

  A few years after that, when I felt I no longer needed them, I donated the books to my local public library, with the intent that whomever needed them would find and enjoy them. Kind of like paying it forward.

  When Ray Franz was still alive and sending the books himself, my hubby ordered a number of them and donated them to the public and academic library in our town.

  Literature being discontinued, including Isaiah's Prophecy and Reasoning book

  congregations get an annual letter that tells what can be ordered for literature (it's mainly a list of audio cds/dvds for the deaf), but this time it included publications that will be discontinued, and this included the isaiah's prophecy book and the reasoning book, and i think i saw the draw close to jehovah book.

  i meant to take a picture of the letter but forgot.

  the branch is only going to give what they have on stock, when that stock depletes that's it, you won't be able to order those publications anymore.. this is in canada so i don't know if this is worldwide..

  It's about time they got rid of the reasoning book. It's full of the old light that was advocated in the 80's.

  This is like Enron when close to its end, they went on a vigorous shredding campaign. Watchtower is doing the same. They are erasing everything they have ever written.

  The rarely send a governing body member to Canada. No doubt with the country's proximity to the United States, Canada is not that exotic enough. When you are the king of the world, why settle for a cold, humid place. They will probably send one of the helpers.

  Elders who dislike other congregation elders

  my congregation had four elders who had different personalities.you would see a little friction among themselves.. #1 self-righteous and the 800 pound gorilla.he would push everyone around in the congregation and even some fellow elders.. # 2 elder was around 80 years old and looked like he stuck around a little too long.it looked like he was around because he never decided to give up the position.his duty became very light as he aged.. # 3 elder was in his early 30's and newly elected.he made no waves and whatever was asked of him in the congregation he would do.easy to push around like a little puppy dog.. #4 elder (who everyone liked ) was easy to get along with and had a family who everyone loved.

  he didn't like elder # 1. they had a power struggle amongst each other which everyone observed while the meetings were in session.. here are 2 small verbal fights that i observed while the congregation meetings were in session:.

  while elder # 1 was giving a talk ( heavy rain storms are brewing outside with loud thunder and lightning ) the microphones and lights are knocked out.we lost all power and could barely see.

  I watched one local body in one congregation that where the elders were at each others throats all the time. Then these ones would mud slink from the stage. It was actually quite entertaining. Eventually all the body was deleted.
