Also, I believe a lot were expecting a governing body member. But Canada is not exciting enough for the magnificent 7. They would rather to go a tropical and exotic places. The only governing body member I ever remember coming to Canada was Freddy Franz way back in the early 1980's.

Richard_I, I am so impressed with you my friend! That you even remembered all you did. I couldn't remember a thing. That brother Bunn was so monotone this is what I heard for 2 hours:

Chronic relapse - what do I do?
by wayoutthere inmy first post here and unfortunately it is asking for help.. i was a born in jehovah's witness and from my earliest memories, i know i hated being one.
i hated the embarrassment of being the "outsider" at school and i hated not being allowed to have any friends.
of course i had the obligatory friends in the kingdom hall - none of whom were my age exactly and none of whom i would have personally chosen to be friends with if i had been left to pick them myself in a natural setting.

It sounds a little irrational, but then again you were traumatized being in this religion. It's an obvious unresolved issue with you, one that you haven't met head on.
A therapist may help you put things in their right prospective, so that you can move on from this.

JW Rumspringa
by SonoftheTrinity inare jehovah's witnesses on their way to practicing amish style rumspringa?
basically pushing young people out into the world and seeing who comes back with their faith intact.
after so many generations of discouraging education, it seems like an easy way to ensure that there are some educated born-ins.

They don't have to push the young ones into a "rumpspringa". There is a lot of freedom among the witness teenagers these days. The kids are doing whatever they want. There are always parties, they travel (under the guise of going where the need is great), they go to their proms, they are getting paired up and dating very young and unchaperoned and no one says a thing.
When I was was growing up, there were so many rules, we literally choked and many in my age group left once they had the chance.

If the meetings are SO valuable and vital, why do witnesses love having a day off from them?
by stuckinarut2 inhave you noticed how happy witnesses are when they have a change in meeting schedules, so that a meeting is missed?.
eg, the week of an assembly, the midweek meeting is not held, and they all say "oh it will be nice to have a night off".. or if a public speaker doesn't come for the talk, and the meeting has just the wt study, they all enjoy "an early mark".
or if they go on holiday, they say "oh we are on holiday, we won't go to the meeting".

Inviting disfellowshipped to the memorial
by wannaexit ini read in a european ex jw forum that this year they are making a special effort to invite not only the inactive but also a special effort is made to invite all disfellowshipped.
.
i don't know if this as always been a common practice, or something started anew so they can boast about the numbers of attendees..

How JW ignore the help Felicity Sneesby got from the "World"
by StephaneLaliberte inlately, in the february broadcast program, at the 46 minutes mark, the watchtower provides the story of felicity sneesby.
this report focuses on how, despite her serious illness, she, along with her family, has always placed her faith in jehovah and how happy she is for being part of jehovah’s family.. i am shocked by how this jw’s report completely ignores the help that this family has received from this system of things through the years.
for instance, they slept at the ronald mcdonald house on at least 6 separate occasions and for long periods of time.
