  What is the longest distance you drove to attend a summer Convention?

  here is a photo of the milwaukee brewers ( american baseball team) county stadium.

  for some reason, we were assigned this outdoor stadium for our 1975 four-day summer convention.

  our congregation was located 90 miles away on the north side of chicago.. some congregation members stayed at milwaukee hotels for the four-day convention.

  a few times we drove over 900 km. one way
  

  a few times we drove over 700 km one way
  

  Not to mention the dozen and dozen times that we went over 300 km. one way

  my wife told me that the wt conductor said in in the strongest most emphatic way.

  that all child abusers will now be reported to the authorities whether there are 2 witnesses or not!

  and this is new thinking!

  So the watchtower says that child sexual abuse is a sin against the authorities. The whole idea is nonsense.

  Who calls the police and says: I want to report a "sin". IT'S A CRIME watchtower. STOP sweeping it underneath the rug.

  2019 International Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, USA

  i watched this convention video and do not recognize this religion any longer.

  there are attendants singing and dancing in grass fields.

  later, you see sisters holding up this silly sign that makes me laugh.

  How they have the audacity of holding up that banner is beyond me. Does anybody in the organization even believe that?

  I'll see what other shenanigans the Canadian dubs have in store at the Toronto international assembly in a few weeks.

  i often wondered over the years what happened to a lot of the old posters from this group.

  going back to the late 1990s a few of the names i recall...blacksheep, gypsywildcactus (i know she's ok as we're friends on facebook still), onacruise, minimus, veniceit, flower, prisca, bendrr, refinersfire, kent, englishman, shit...dare i say it evilforce lol, snittlesnacks (what a twat), scully, mouthy, talesin from nova scotia, xenawarrior.

  littletom (from glasgow in scotland), outlaw, goaty, bisous, uncle brucey (australian character who loved his wildkife photography) - struggling now to remember more names.i know there are many more.

  I cam here in 2002- that was my awakening.

  I do miss a lot of the older posters. There were a few that really left an impression like Maxim, Amazing, JT (although he and Lady C are back on youtube) Mary, Mulan,.....too many to write down.

  Did your congregation ever throw special parties exclusively for Pioneers?

  i'm trying to remember if these parties were a direct instruction from hq or if this was something on a local level.. i remember i attended at least 2 of these parties and we also would bring them gifts.

  i saw them no different than a bday party (elevating someone to idolatry level).. if anyone else remembers these parties please let me know.

  if there's a letter out there somewhere from hq that would be even better.

  Yes they have parties for pioneers. it's a big bash. The cream of the crop gets invited--all the elders and their wives and of course the pioneers.
