  Hi Craig...

  Well hope that the DF thing don`t get ya too down..life does go on...me now DF`ed over 20yrs .....god time flies ..and once I was the ONLY one in my family out...over the years its been interesting that of my 3 sisters only one now is a JW ..one is DF and one is DA.......the other one the JW is married to a JW and has got a baby whom I have never seen...No we have grown up kids we can get together and have a skeleton `normal` life altho the DF stuff has taken its toll on our r`ships....Anyways...keep reading stuff here and hope that you will go on to enjoy a relatively stressfree future...Debz

  Boosting Attendance or Hunting Apostates?

  recently, and reportedly in coming months, elders will be contacting inactive members.. it has been suggensted that their main objective is to hunt for apostates.. i'm inclined to think that "finding apostates" is just a side effect of their main objective, which is to boost meeting attendance.. any thoughts?

  Thats a thought Refiner ...here`s another ...what about when teeth get distracted...theres lots of blood ...have to swallow it dont ya even if it is your own...I remember being about 10 when I had my front teeth pullled ...Mother made me spit blood all day in case I ingested any....lolololol

  Here`s another thought.....

  Recent dramas in my family when my 3 month old g/son needed urgent major surgical intervention on his little skull...My Mother made a huge scene....implying that my daughter was `blackmailed` into agreeing to use blood, if necessary. To make matters worse.....she implied that these learned surgeons and specialists `didnt know what they were doing` and only cared about getting sued!!!!!....Me well..I think (no, I know) they saved my g/sons` life as without the op he would have grown and slowly crushed his brain........his skull bones were all fused together at birth. The condition is Saggittal cranio-synantosis........and I`m so grateful that specialists like this surgeon have the ability to do these life saving ops... with or without blood....(he didn`t have to use blood anyways!) ....D

  trying to quit smoking

  i resumed my smoking habit about a year before i left the borg.

  i've been on and off of cigarettes since that time.

  i'm trying to quit (again).

  Keep going!!!

  I`m still off em after 6 months BUT..let me tell you how hard it is...

  I have had the odd one or two..when I was subjected to see my ex husband dying in hopsital..which shook me up real bad...that was July 24th after 5 weeks totally off them...

  I used Zyban and the book The EASYway to stop smoking.....which helped a great deal....

  I actauuly `tried` a ciggie sat night ...3 puffs and that was it..i have to put it out! pretty good for en ex heavy smoker eh!

  I am still battling it But think I will do ok....

  Keep going - you`re not alone....Debz

  Another Melbourne Bomb Scare!

  the rialto building located in the city business district of melbourne has had another bomb threat.

  all those who work for the law firm we work with who are located in that building, have been given the day off.

  the authorities are treating the threat as a hoax....but to be on the safe side, some are taking precautions.

  This terrorist stuff is dreadful and I never thought I would see such devastation as 9/11- everyones safety really came home to me when the Bali bombing happened. Sunday AM - Radio announcement, I awoke myself ..thinking my god did I hear right! Yes I did......Oh no..for a moment disorientated I yelled out `Oh NO..Laura (my daughter)`......then once awake realised she was due to fly out to Bali Monday RELIEF....she was safe..how close was that! Not so lucky my g/friend who lost her preganant sister, her sisters husband and his brother...Its not a safe world anymore eh!.Anyways Beck..the slightest HINT of anything unusual get outta der OK...Cheers Y`all Debz

  I just thought it interesting subject.........My parents no longer talk `spiritual` matters with me and they have`nt for over 20yrs..BUT you guessed it ..any MLM that they happen to be currently attached to gets posted to me with promises of great wealth and health.....recently Mannatech....when I asked my Mum why the JW Doctor who was `selling` it to patients got `struck off`....I was met with a matter of fact reply that he was really interested in his patients welfare. It seems that this product is the wonder product of the century and can cure all ills...I have grave concern that JW`s with an illness (ie my father - who has diabeties) are taking the `natural` alternative to prescribed medication only on the basis that its the MLM product of the moment!!!!

  Why is it that JW`s get `hooked` into the latest multi-level marketing ploys...when I was in...about 20yrs ago..it was Amway, Herbalife etc - seems it still happens with now Mannatech and others! Is this an indication of vulnurability of people through `brain-washing` OR does the materialistic lure of wealth `get them in`...I find it fascinating that such a concentrated amount of `get rich quick` schemes are actively condoned albeit unofficially. Anyone got any theories on this?...Debz

  ok...i have to admit this board has been unbelievably helpful in helping me figure out my jw mom!

  i've especially got a kick out of reading the many posts about their "language.

  " well, today i'm trying to have a "normal" conversation with my mom...i've decided their is no such thing as "normal" when talking to a zealous jw.

  I can relate to that ....and some topics are just not even thought of let alone mentioned. I find it hard to discuss anything - even tho she is not supposed to discuss `spiritual` matters with me, she does the most amazing amount of complaining out of anyone that I know.....Be like me.....swear that often turns her quite for a ehile..Debz

  Melbourne's first ex-jw meet up a success!

  i don't know how everyone else's meetups have been going, but here in melbourne we had our first official meetup on saturday night.. the meetup situation is quite different to meeting people off a discussion board such as this...as you have already formed a friendship or become familiar online...so this was a new experience for me.

  in attendance we had 6 ex-dubs, 3 guys, 3 gals, as well as 2 non-dub partners.

  at the first venue we found it hard to talk and hear each other...so we moved on to a quieter venue where we all shared pizza and drinks and were able to talk across the table with each other.
