So what's the story with the GB these days? Is Ted J a man of vision? Or is he a loose cannon? Who are the movers & shakers in the group? Why's Milton still kicking around, can't he be retired (or even replaced)? Just wondering....

"our father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come" matt 6:9,10 (kjv).
not use god's name .
i'm an ex-dub but i still believe serious bible study means you gotta name check jehovah/yahweh.. what do others think?

Question time: is it possible to be a 'true' Christian and not use God's name
I'm an ex-Dub but I still believe serious bible study means you gotta name check Jehovah/Yahweh.
What do others think? Is God's name really that important? Is it as important as the name Jesus? Or has man (and the Dubs) turned it into something it's not???

just watched an episode of 80s sitcom 'married with children', al & peggy get mixed up with a gay couple, fairly funny stuff!
anyhoo.... there's a neat scene were al, answering his front door, says to himself 'i hope it's a jw cuz i feel like a nice deep chat' (or something like that) & he picks up a baseball bat as he opens the door!!
like i said, fairly funny stuff, but it got me thinking: what other tv shows/movies feature scenes with (or ref to) jws???
Blue Velvet:
Jeffrey (Kyle McLachlan) wants to sneak into the mystery lady's apartment but he's not sure if she's home. He tells Sandy (Lauara Dern) he'll knock on the mystery lady's door & if she answers he'll say he's a JW.

.
what is the watchtower's teachings regarding the dead sea scrolls?
i can't seem to find anything on it in their publications.
hi there Devon
the WTBTS is pretty cool about the Scrolls, they accept the historical importance + accuracy of the documents.
every few years there'd be an article in the WT or Awake on the likelihood of John the Baptist being a member of the Essenes (the group who wrote + preserved the Scrolls)... not a chance was always the answer!
no idea what the Isaiah book (currently being studied) says on the Scrolls, I'm guessing it's exceptionally favourable towards them as the Isaiah Scroll verifys the authenticity of the Book of Isaiah!!

the World Empire of False Religion!
who else groaned whenever that gem was uttered?
I hated the expression so much, it was barred from my house haha
I'd ask my friends, what's wrong with rewording it as the Global Gonglomerate of Fake Belief Systems, isn't that more accurate AND it stops us sounding like drones? I guess so they would mumble...
but what the hey! I guess my goat like attitude finally did prove I have no appreciation for spiritual things, that I'd rather be here with you guys than feast at Jehovah's table (it's now sunday morning in rainy scotland!), that I've lost my spiritual hunger etc etc
