Lady Lee,

That is the link to their site. I doubt you could get to see them this year at this late date, though it's possible... but it does list the cities they tour.
Jackie ;)
since being allowed to celebrate christmas my family and i have been making traditions for ourselves.
one of the things we do every year is see the trans-siberian orchestra when their christmas show comes through.
for those of you not familiar with it... a lot of it is classical music played on electric guitars and electric violins... some of it is original... and most, if not all, is very good.

The concert, however, is *always* better than just listening to their CD because there is a narrator who tells a story between the songs and the songs fit and fill the story. It is a wonderful show... and as much as the idea of bastardizing Beethoven is distasteful it is absolutely awesome music.
Take the time to check them out... and if, next year, you have the opportunity to see them live I highly recommend it. It can be rough getting tickets because they only play one night in each city so they can get everywhere during the Christmas season. In fact they changed venues in St. Louis because Fox theater sold out so fast every year and Savvis Center has more seating.
Anyway, enough rambling. It was a wonderful night and I encourage everyone to check it out if they can.
Jackie ;)
obviously, mine is a picture of me.....it was taken at a hockey game at staples center: go kings!

odrade has a very pretty picture and i was wondering if that was her or a character from a movie?

:::chuckling::: how sweet, but I was just joking. Trust me, after all the money I've spent on the neices and nephew for Christmas it's only my own fault if I end up short ;)
I'm so happy for you, though... and I loved the card, thanks... I mailed mine out yesterday and the post office said they should be delivered (even out of country which I found impressive) in 4-7 days... so look for it to show up.
Buy yourself something nice for Christmas with some of the winnings, too ;)

do you enjoy it after so many years of not celebrating?
does it have any relevance to you now?.
i live in nz and it doesn't feel like xmas to me cause it's the middle of summer - it just doesn't compute so that helps really all in all.
Like a child! I have so much fun just picking out the perfect tree, my eyes light up walking through them looking them over. I spoil my neices and nephew absolutely rotten and adore picking out the perfect gift for people I love... the one that will make their eyes light up when they open it. I get so enthused and manic I even inspire some scrooges who don't know what it's like to not have Christmas into enjoying it again ;)
Jackie
i say yes.. really, what is wrong with it?
is it morally or ethically wrong?
is it against your conscience?
The other side of the coin:
When my niece was born my sister sent some gifts... clothes, a few toys, and, low and behold, some witness literature... knowing full well that my brother didn't want his daughter taught this religion. My sister did not respect his right to make that choice for his daughter... even though she meant it as an expression of love.
Sending a Christmas card to a JW family member is the same thing, in my opinion ;)
I say if you truly feel the need to send them a card in the spirit of love and friendship... send them a thinking of you card.
Jackie
hello everyyone!.
this the first christmas that my husband and i actually have time to do stuff with our kids before christmas.
i hope to help them make some ornaments for our tree, and hopefully make a few to send up to their grandparents for their tree.
It was brought to my attention that I am posting big red x's... opps ;)
My first post on this thread is too old to edit, I think, so the picture of the garland I intended to post is below...
Sorry,
Jackie

Here's one I did for my grandma this year...
It's really easy, only took me an hour to do both the throw and the matching pillow. The picture didn't turn out too clear, but it turned out really nice. It's two layers of fleece, so it's extremely warm and very soft. If you want to try it instructions are below:
Go to any fabric store (or even the fabric section of a Walmart) and choose two patterns of fleece for the front and back of the blanket. Buy 2 yards of each for the blanket (an extra half a yard for the pillow if you want to make one). If the fleece is a print like the one above just have it cut to the size of the picture with at least 4 extra inches on each side.
When you get the fleece you will find that two sides of it are "finished"... Just cut the finished part off. Put the two pieces of fleece together with each side facing out that you want to show (on most fleece the sides are the same and won't matter). Cut 4 or 5 inch squares out of each corner depending upon how long you want the fringe to be. Cut fringe into each side about 1 inch apart and either 4 or 5 inches long, whatever matches the squares you originally cut. Tie the fringe together and viola!
It's very easy to do, and pretty forgiving... the cutting and such doesn't have to be exact as long as the two pieces of fleece are cut together. No sewing involved, just cutting and tying (my type of craft, indeed). The pillow is made the same way just on a smaller scale and with 3 inch fringe instead of 4 or 5.
Have fun,
Jackie ;)
