I hope you get to go again this year.
My only disappointment is that every year they talk about doing a summer tour of their Beethoven's Last Night album and it never materializes :::sigh:::

just announced it's winter tour for this year. They will be here in St. Louis December 9 playing 2 shows in one day because they have become so popular. It is a tradition with my mom, my brother and I to go every year. We also usually have cousins, a few aunts, etc who join us if they can work their schedule around it. For us it is also something we share because of the oppression of not being able to celebrate Christmas for so many years.
If you love Christmas music and you love Rock I highly recommend you check it out. Not only is the music amazing (classical music and christmas songs played on electric violins and electric guitars), the light show they put on is spectacular. They also tell a story. They have a narrator with an amazing voice that tells a story between the songs, and the songs help fill the story in. It's a great experience.
If you are not familiar with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra you can check out these you tube clips... however, it's nothing to the experience of seeing them live:

Thought I would share.

i've been on the board for quite a while now and was wondering, what do my fellow jwdr's do for work, employment or career?
me, i'm in probably one of the most hated careers in america right now.
(not gonna tell you what it is either) but how about you, what do you do to earn a little coin?.
Basically what amounts to an assistant shift manager at a casino. You would think I would get enough of games at work... but no, I come home and play/monitor them even here ;)

not sure why i'm writing this really.
i'm a grown woman and should be able to deal with these things in a more constructive way.
and yet here i am... my job is doing a contest...bring in your prom photo and the neatest one will win a really cool prize (it's a weekly celebration for back-to-school around here - i'm in the newspaper business.
We never forget what was done to us or we would only repeat the same mistakes in some form.
For me, I try to understand that my dad is a victim, too (although at times he makes this a very difficult belief). But... I try to know that he truly believes in this, and because he loves me he did what he thought was best to offer me eternal life. Never forget, but forgive knowing we all make mistakes (some are just stupider and bigger than others).
In the past, I have also found that being open about such things has helped me a lot. Using your example, I would choose to either not participate or , as your boss suggested, bring in a different picture. Either way is probably going to bring about questions. Be honest, tell people. I was always surprised at the number of people who felt outraged on my behalf, and it always made it easier for me to let some of my own anger go to know that it wasn't just me being silly or wrong. It made me feel better to know that other people saw the wrongness of it and made it easier to accept that my anger was actually justified, and for me it made it easier for me to forgive. Maybe I'm just weird that way, though, I don't know.
Anywho, those are my thoughts. I hope they are helpful to you and you get through this to be a stronger person with, perhaps, a little less anger to carry around hidden inside in the long run.

the literature produced by jehovah's witnesses is so often mistaken on matters of basic science that i thought it might be fun to do a daily feature on the subject.. i'll preface this first installment with a little explanation: .
"why pick on the jw's, tom?
why not comb through old issues of ensign and point out embarrassing things printed by the church of jesus christ of latter day saints?".
What a fun idea. I look forward to more JW science quotes of the day.
Thanks,
Jackie

"there is no end.
You cannot find peace by avoiding life. - A line from the movie 'The Hours'
“…before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which most people give up. It’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one ‘dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.’

cut trees, which should be set up no sooner than the middle of December so it will last through the season
I always get a live tree on the day after Thanksgiving and take it down sometime in the week after New Year. As long as you keep it watered it stays nice through the season, or it always has for me. Maybe it's just karma making up for all the lost Christmases ;)

....spelling errors on the topic headers?.
how much effort does it take to check your spelling before you post a topic??.
just read over some of the topics up for discussion right now and you'll see a very shocking (to me, at least) disregard for accuracy.. if you can't trouble yourself to get your spelling right how are the rest of us going to respect the fact you have your reasoning right either??.
:::smile::: Fair enough, I admit to having misread the tone of your reply and apologize ;)
