And a fair point it is. I will leave it at that.

by Free!! inthis morning on my way to the office i decided to stop at the gas station to get some coffee.... as i am pulling into the parking space i see this woman w a haircut from the 80's the typical below the knee skirt and long sleeve shirt (is a 105 degrees over here in the shadow).... i immediatly knew she was a jw... she had the latest wt in her hands..... she skipped me and approached a group of young mexican laborers that were resting in the back of a truck... but... as soon as i walked out of the gas station... guess who was waiting for me???
the jw!!!
she wanted to do a presentation.. i looked at her and w/o saying a word i started laughing so hard the guys in the truck started laughing as well... she just looked at me and still kept trying to push her literatrash!!

:::chuckling::: Perhaps I don't get the idea of sponaneous displays of laughter. That is certainly possible. Let's go with that, then. However, I would think that's quite a leap to make simply because I have a different viewpoint. Best of luck because, honestly, I can't continue to explain my point while you refuse to see it. At least I can see your point, even if I don't agree with it. I even tried to joke with zid about her interests and find some common ground. But that's fine. We will just put this down to my not understanding spontaneous laughter.

I could be wrong, it has been a *long* time since I've heard this word... I want to say it's something you wear on your head?

Should I pressure you to start pursuing my interests? That would be amusing, I think. :)

I didn't say that's what she did. I said when you're mocking her fasion in one breath and then talking about how you laughed at her in the next... that was in reference to what she posted, not the actual situation itself. *When* the mocking took place has no bearing on my stance.
And while I appreciate the invite, SCA is not a particular interest of mine. I have my own idiosyncracies. I have gone to Ren fairs with my grandmother and watched jousts and other such things, but wearing any such paraphenalia myself is of no interest. I imagine those who do enjoy it a great deal, though.

I'm not angry. But I feel sorry for the woman. I also said that if it was a nervous reaction I would understand it. But when you are mocking her dress and other aspects of her in the same breath that you are telling us how you laughed and got a whole group of others to laugh as well because of how you were laughing at her one has to question whether it was really a nervous reaction. If the mocking of how she dressed had been left out it would be a great deal easier to give her the benefit of the doubt. But considering she put mocking into her post it's difficult to assume that the laughing was not meant to be mocking as well. And most of us have family in that we would prefer not to have mocked because they are living what they believe. Beyond that we all used to be in this woman's position. And even beyond that, why would you mock what someone was wearing? Everyone has their own fashion sense and style. Would you mock my grandma because she doesn't wear the latest fasions? How about my niece who wears hand me down clothes? Or what about me because I'll tell you right now if I'm making a quick run to the store I have no problem going in sandals and warm fuzzy socks in the winter. Why should anyone care what someone is wearing as long as it is clean and appropriate (you know, no nipples showing when you're in an area where kids will be, etc.). The callousness of mocking someone's clothing is just not fitting to me with nervous laughter because of the sitation. Again, not angry, but that is how it comes across to me, that's all. I think the world would be a better place if we could all learn to be a bit kinder.

By whose standard did she dress in a backwards fashion?

Question for the men
by SafeAtHome ini'd like the input of the guys, maybe some of you who have been married or in a serious relationship for some time.
if you were having an affair and your wife found out about it, would you want her to tell you she knew?
would it serve a purpose, that is, make you end the affair, or on the other hand, push it over the edge to be with the other person?

I'm really sorry you're bummed, SAH, and I wish I had the best words to give you but I'm not always very smart, you know. I will say this is not about the other woman. Who and what she is does not matter. What matters is between you and your husband and I think you would be better off focusing on how to fix that rather than on what makes her such an unsavory person. Whoever or whatever she is, focusing on it will not fix your marriage.

And women who are willing to keepxthemselves in the comfortable home he provides while feelimg they are obligated to nothing more than lay in bed and watch tv shouldnt feel upset when ge beats them
Women crying about physical abuse do well to examine wha they think their obligations are... Cause taking the life HE provides while giving NOTHING in return is the text book definition of a parasite not a "wife"
In changing a few of your words please understand that I am not trying to compare infidelity with physical abuse... what I am trying to point out is that blaming your choices and actions on the poor choices and actions your partner makes does not absolve anyone of the responsibility they still have for their own choices and actions. Someone who chooses to physically abuse his or her spouse is responsible for that choice despite what s/he feels his or her spouse did to deserve it. They chose the action to abuse and they own the responsibility for it. I feel the same way about infidelity. Someone who choose to cheat is responsible for that choice despite what s/he feels his or her spouse did to deserve it. It is still a choice that was made by the one who cheated. There were other options: keep trying to make it work, accept the situation as it is, or walk away. I'm sure there are other options as well.
This is not an either/or situation. It is not either my spouse provides this or I cheat. There are other options and the choice not to pursue those options rests on the person who chooses to cheat. I'm sorry if that upsets or offends you, but, and I could be very wrong, I strongly suspect that the reason it upsets or offends you is that some part of you agrees with me but does not want to.
I read another post of yours about your choice to stay in the religion and I have more respect for your stance there than you can possibly imagine. I hope you do not feel any of my post is a personal attack on you, it is not meant to be. But these are my opinions on this particular matter and I felt a need to share them. Whatever your situation I wish you the best.
