Do JW's ever read Ephesians4:6?
by anti-absolutism inyou know the scripture that the dubs use to "prove that there is only one true religion and that they, of course have it"?
one lord, one faith, one baptism..... has anyone ever had any experiences trying to point out that verse 6 tends to shed a different light on it?
it says, (in their own bible): one god and father of all [persons], who is over all, and through all, and in all.. to avoid swaying opinion, i will avoid giving my own experiences until i get a few responses.. thanks for your consideration, brad

Have you forgotten what the WTS taught?
by freedom96 inwe remember things such as telling us how to dress, not celebrating holidays, paradise on earth etc.. but what about the deeper teachings?
especially those of you who now follow another religion.
there was so much garbage taught, especially in regards to revelation and things like that.

Ditto to Gizmo on no one having the absolute truth. That's how I picked my name. It is SO nice to not know "EVERYTHING" anymore. I think that is the single biggest reason so many good people never leave. They feel that admitting that they don't know "the truth" is a scary thing...... something to fear greatly. From my experience it is the exact opposite, even though I was afraid at first as well.

Ok, I Need to Yap Some More...
by cyrano inone thing that always confused me in the watchtower was the meaning of the covenant.
i have come to believe the reason for my confusion is that the watchtower is actually lost in this area (well duh!).
their false teaching of the covenant has led to a house of cards.

I agree with Navigator.
I heard an ex-JW express very strongly awhile back that Jesus was 1)..not God's son (like the Witnesses teach), or 2)..Satan's brother (like the Mormon's teach), and 3)..was CERTAINLY not JUST a man of divine consciousness!!!!! My first reaction to the third condemnation was .... WHY NOT?
Isn't it possible that what he taught was as simple and basic as LOVE and RESPECT for everyone!!!! I do want to express my personal respect for people whose intentions are to try to help mankind, but I can't help but think that we have created a lot of hate and condemnation only because we have tried to over-analyze Jesus' and many, many, many other people's peaceful teachings.
I try to remember the KISS system, whenever I think too hard.... Keep It Simple Stupid..... no offence intended to me or any other people who forget to keep it it simple. Take care

washington - nearly every television viewer of president george w. bush's recent state of the union address agreed with him on every issue, according to a poll conducted this week by the arfley research institute.. .
the poll gave bush a 97 percent approval rating for his "astonishing" management of the u.s. economy and a 98 percent approval rating for his "amazing" handling of foreign affairs.

That was very funny, Iron-gland. Who do you think goes down on who?...... George Bush on Ted Turner or the other way around?
I had a conversation with a guy the other day who is Canadian but was born in the U.S. that says the States has never done anything wrong in any of its foreign affairs policies. (Actually he wasn't intelligent enough to use the big FAP words, but that's what he meant..... lol) I asked him what he thought the 2 million people in Vietnam would think about that IF THEY WERE ALIVE, and his response was something that my daddy straightened me out on when I was 5. He said, "Well that wasn't OUR fault....they asked us to go. UNBELIEVABLE

What do you think ?
by obiwan in.
i know many like myself have had alot of different experiances and have met many different people since leaving the jw's.my question is do you think you knew or found people to be more intelligent in the organization or have you found people to be more stimulating and intelligent outside the organization, setting aside the fact that the people in the organization are apart of it?
i'm just curious as to peoples experiances.

Personally speaking, I have a relatively high I.Q. but that knowledge likely contributed to me staying in longer than necessary. I actually thought I was SMART enough to be able to find "The Truth".
Irregardless of intelligence or stupidity, it is unnatural for people to be able to close their eyes and mind to all of the evidence to the contrary of there being an "absolute truth". In order for this to happen, they have to turn off or numb their minds from anything other than their own SMALL world. This may give people the impression that they are less intelligent. I would suggest that it is denial. Denial and blind faith that kills peoples' psyche. POOR CHAPS!!!!

Bashing JW's?. Why not bash Christianity instead?
by anti-absolutism ini've read a lot of things on this and other web sites that condemn jw's, and i agree that jw's have a huge spiritual awakening coming to them, but i think christianity as a whole has that coming to them.. people have compared what they see in the jw org.
to the inquisition for example.
i agree, but have they forgotten that the inquisition and many other evil things have transpired during so-called christianity.

I agree, but have they forgotten that the Inquisition and MANY other EVIL things have transpired during so-called Christianity. I do not for a second support terrorism or anything mean that any organisation inflicts on mankind, but why do we, as Christians, find it so easy to condemn other religions when Christians have been as guilty as all others.
If we want to follow Christ, that in itself is a very noble thing, for what he taught was truly peaceful, yet great strife and divisions have been created by people purporting to follow his example.
Ultimately, most people are doing what they BELIEVE is the right thing to do. Although it is hard for me to remember that because my entire family shuns me for not going back to the JW faith, it causes much less inner turmoil in me to accept that they are at least well intentioned.
Thanks for reading and any thoughts would be appreciated.
